GIS Analyst Internship
Wood is currently recruiting for a GIS Analyst Intern to join our Water Resources and Technology Services team. Â The position supports data analysis and mapping on a variety of projects for public and private sector clients, particularly for water resources and environmental sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform GIS database development, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and mapping as directed by various water resources (including floodplain mapping) and environmental services project team members.
- Produce detailed, high-quality cartographic products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports as directed and in accordance with technical guidelines
- Communicate with project team members to clearly define data needs, project requirements, and desired outputs
- Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including public domain, field collection, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps
- Perform regular quality control checks of GIS Data and non-spatial databases with supervision to ensure data integrity
Qualifications
Required
- Working towards BA/BS in GIS, Geography or related field
- Proficiency using ESRI ArcGIS software
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Resourceful and self-motivated
