Weyerhaeuser is searching for a Quality Assurance (QA) Lead to join our new Timberstrand facility in Monticello, AR. This is a full-time, hourly production position and reports to the Technical Director.

The QA Lead will ensure that all products adhere to the manufacturing standards and will provide technical expertise and a scientific approach to solving plant manufacturing opportunities. This role is responsible for assisting the Technical Director in all aspects of the QA department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to comply with all site safety requirements, including participation in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hot work, and confined space procedures, as required by training and operational needs.
  • Ensure consistent use of safe work practices in all aspects of the work performed by self and others.
  • Support and guide the use of Continuous Process Improvement and SPC methodologies.
  • Implement and support the plant's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Provide oversight of the day-to-day operation of the QA Department.
  • Maintain routine quality records and product performance trends.
  • Provide direction to QA technicians in the monitoring, recording, analyzing, and reporting of the plant process and product test data.
  • Train and develop QA technicians, including direction setting, coaching, mentoring, and skill development.
  • Promote Quality amongst production teams and providing direction and guidance as required.
  • Support and lead various processes and operational projects.
  • Collaborate with other facilities to share best practices and to support the achievement of all safety, quality, environmental and production targets.
  • Serve as the Technical Director's delegate, assuming full responsibility for departmental leadership, operational oversight, and critical decision-making in their absence.
     
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a Quality Assurance/Quality control role is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a leadership role is required.
  • Post secondary education in Wood Technology, Engineering, or a related technical or manufacturing discipline is a strong asset, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze, assess, and control risk in a reliable and systematic way.
  • Data driven - using data and statistical methods to develop strategies and translate them into objectives, action plans, and timelines with follow-up.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize time while handling multiple tasks.
  • Excels at managing change - leads and enables others to adapt to and anticipate change.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong background in MS office and statistical analysis software.
  • Flexibility to support 24/7 operation, which includes anytime response support and weekend/holiday work if necessary.
  • Willingness and desire to be considered for potential future leadership.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual gainshare program, and the hourly pay rate for this position is $29.00. All hourly non-production and hourly production employees are eligible for overtime pay for work in excess of forty (40) hours in any one (1) work week.
