The Opportunity
The Associate Sales Engineer (ASE) is a technical pre-sales professional responsible for partnering with Account executives to drive revenue through customer engagement, solution architecture, and demonstrating technical leadership. The ASE serves as a trusted advisor to prospective and existing customers by helping them solve complex data protection, cyber resilience, and cloud infrastructure challenges while aligning Commvault solutions to business outcomes.
This role requires a consultative technical expert who can engage confidently with executive leadership, architects, operations and security teams. The Associate Sales Engineer leads discovery, develops technical account strategies, delivers compelling demonstrations, manages proof of concept engagements, and guides customers through complex enterprise sales cycles.
Working closely with sales leadership, product management, customer success, and professional services the associate sales engineer provides technical leadership throughout the customer journey while influencing product direction through market and customer feedback.
What you'll do...
• Own the technical strategy and execution for assigned opportunities throughout the enterprise sales cycle, partnering closely with account executives to drive customer success.
• Lead technical discovery sessions with executive, architectural, operational, and security stakeholders to understand business objectives, technical requirements and success criteria.
• Translate business and technical requirements into solution architectures that demonstrate measurable business value and align with customer modernization initiatives.
• Deliver customized demonstrations, workshops, and technical presentations that clearly articulate the value of Commvault's Native Cloud solutions.
• Design, lead, and execute Proof of Concept (POC) engagements that validate customer use cases and accelerate technical decision making.
• Develop technical account strategies and opportunity plans that align customer initiatives with Commvault capabilities.
• Lead technical responses for RFP. RFI, security questionnaires, and solution documentation while ensuring technical accuracy and competitive differentiation.
• Partner cross-functionally with product management, engineering, customer success, support and marketing to ensure customer success and provide market feedback that influences future product direction.
• Maintain deep technical expertise across cloud platforms, cyber resilience, data protection, and emerging technologies while remaining aware of competitive offerings.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing customer relationships through consultative solution selling.
Who you are...
• 3-5 years of experience in technical sales support, sales engineering, systems engineering, solutions architecture, or related technical role.
• Proven success leading enterprise presales engagements for cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data resiliency, SaaS, or enterprise software solutions.
• Hands on experience with public cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with enterprise applications and databases such as MSSQL, Oracle, SAP, PostGreSQL, MongoDB.
• Understanding of software licensing models (subscription, term, perpetual).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrates ability to quickly understand customer environments, identify technical challenges, and develop innovative solution strategies.
• Effective organizational skills and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Ability to work remotely as part of a distributed team.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
• Willingness to travel, depending upon customer and business requirements.
