You are a seasoned data storage engineer who will collaborate with a many team of professionals to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information data storage system capabilities. Success in this role means you can develop, implement, and maintain secure, cost-efficient storage environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define storage requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex Digital Technology (DT) infrastructure problems.

As a Senior Principal Storage and Data Protection System Administrator, this role will require a seasoned professional contributor who can handle difficult and complex issues within the mission areas of the Woburn, MA facilities related to Storage and Data Protection systems in classified environments.

This position may require travel to other locations, both local and domestic, as dictated by customer-driven work requirements. Relocation support is available if the applicant is eligible per company policy.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with partners to define computing requirements based on standard architectural solutions, leveraging a strong background with major storage vendors, tape library systems, and backup application vendors (e.g., CommVault, Cohesity, Veritas).
  • Work with storage architects, program leads, and end-users to design end-to-end solutions based on program requirements involving hardware and operating system technologies.
  • Integrate and partner with programs, network engineering, and high-performance computing teams to solve complex infrastructure problems.
  • Assure a high level of reliability and performance through systems monitoring and infrastructure management, with a deep understanding of data storage performance requirements.
  • Respond to online service requests from users.
  • Ensure server and application compliance with security and performance requirements (e.g., DFARS, RMF, NIST Cybersecurity Framework).
  • Provide expertise with NAS storage products, with an emphasis on:
    • Storage system installation, network configuration, and data migrations.
    • Command-line proficiency, software upgrades, log analysis, high-availability configurations, inter-cluster connectivity, disk-to-disk backups, disk-to-tape backups, Snap technology, and health, capacity, and performance monitoring.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings to report on project status and create updates and status reports for management.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain technical and operational documentation (e.g., technical implementation guides).
  • Assist in developing the overall performance and capability of your technical team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Support systems that are operational 24x7, with occasional work effort required beyond standard work hours.
  • Start date will not be set until Interim clearance is issued

Qualifications you must have:

  • Experience with Linux Operating System. (RHEL preferred), Windows operating systems for backup application installations, configurations, and implementation into production
  • The ability to obtain an U.S. government issued secret security clearance prior to starting is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance Start date will not be set until a Interim clearance is issued
  • Experience with NAS storage environments, tape library systems, Cohesity/Veritas, CommVault, and VEEAM backup applications.
     
    Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with virtual computing technologies with VMWare, vCenter, vSphere and ESXI virtual computing methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Cyber Security tools
  • Scripting / programming experience
  • Strong understanding of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment and TCP/IP concepts.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
