They may go to Atmore Alabama once to meet everyone but very little travel (expenses will be covered)

Candidates can live anywhere with the exception of California. They must work CST hours though.

Job Overview: The Director of Cloud Data Platforms and Engineering is responsible for overseeing the multi-year data modernization and continual improvement of a modern data platform in alignment with Wind Creek Data Strategy goals. He/she will work along other key leaders and create a cloud based, value-driving platform that drives industry leading innovations. He/she will have excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills, and are passionate about delivering business value through data and technology. This position reports to CDAO in the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive a spirit of innovation and data strategy by designing and building a data platform that is rooted in industry best practices.
  • Develop and execute against an evolving data platform roadmap in collaboration with Data Strategy and Analytics leadership teams.
  • Analyzing competitive industry trends, technology landscape, best practices and plan the next gen data strategy needs for OLTP and OLAP and platform to solve complex business problems.
  • Be a thought leader in devising the platform features, addressing gaps and recommending appropriate tools.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to a team of engineers to deliver high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions on time.
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, reliable and performant systems that provide streaming, and API based solutions to our partners for their data needs.
  • Work closely with the business and technical teams and create or assist in the creation of scalable, flexible, and well documented data solutions and system designs that enhance product offerings and speed time to market.
  • Elevate data as a first-class citizen across SDLC tooling to improve traceability to data artifacts though change management/deployment with data compliance built into tools.
  • Build and promote an agile development culture within the team passionate about high quality code development and deployment to production.

  • Builds/develops a high-performing Data Platform team – coach, mentor and develop team members, attract and retain talent, improve operating models to enable high performance and team cohesion.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to a team of engineers to deliver high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions on time.
  • Collaborate and builds trust – develop deep partnerships with stakeholders across the organization, instill accountability and motivate cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions.
  • Provide thought leadership – bring fresh thinking on business growth and streamline opportunities using data, with a focus on scalability, usability, governance and security.

Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field AND three (3) years’ experience in a management position– required; Master’s preferred OR Seven (7) years’ experience in a management position
  • Ten (10) years of platform engineering and technology product engineering in retail, hospitality and/or casino organizations with demonstrated technical and business acumen– required
  • Must have a pulse on current market trends, and can lead a build/buy assessment to determine the best option looking both at TCO, and potential competitive advantages
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale Data modernization initiatives in a complex enterprise environment with a matrix of business and technology stakeholders.
  • Deep experience in Data warehousing and reporting technologies including modern cloud data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake. Experience with Snowflake migrations a plus.
  • Deep working experience with Bigdata technologies with data streaming knowledge.
  • Deep experience in ELT tools like DBT, ADF, Fivetran, or any other parallel ELT tools.
  • Strong familiarity with advanced analytics tooling such as PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Proven track record managing large, complex software development/ integration projects in both host and distributed environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of external competition, industry and/or market trends in relation to own business
  • Demonstrated understanding of IT Service Management concepts and procedures
    Demonstrated knowledge of the latest technology innovations and their applicability to business operations
  • Demonstrated relationship management and senior leadership skills with a superior ability to make things happen using influence and negotiation with all levels of management.
