Position Description:
We are looking for a motivated professional to join our Survey team based out of our Michigan offices. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or related field, and be a licensed Professional Surveyor in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Florida. This role required ten or more years of experience and prior leadership experience is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and demonstrates strong communication and multitasking skills. This role requires the ability to quickly learn new systems, adapt to changing priorities, and work effectively in a collaborative environment. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule is available after thirty days of employment.
Typical responsibilities include:
  • Provide division-wide operational leadership and serve as a senior technical resource for Survey Managers and field staff across multiple states and market sectors
  • Develop, implement, and maintain CAD standards and templates across the survey division, driving consistency and quality in all deliverables
  • Train and mentor survey staff on CAD workflows, production efficiency, and deliverable quality expectations
  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for CAD-related deliverable standards and quality control
  • Review and assist with scope, budget, and schedule development for new project tasks
  • Monitor task budgets and project progress; identify and report variances proactively
  • Assist with and lead preparation of proposals
  • Conduct on-site inspections and provide technical oversight as needed across active project areas
  • Prepare project status reports and other division-level reporting as required
  • Coordinate with and support Project Managers on multi-discipline projects
  • Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings including client progress reviews, plan reviews, and preconstruction conferences
  • Maintain and grow client relationships with a focus on long-term partnership
  • Conduct various types of surveying including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivisions, construction stakeouts, and energy/utility corridor surveys as needed
  • Perform and review survey calculations, legal descriptions, and record research in support of project deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate survey operations across multiple simultaneous projects and teams
  • Experience developing and monitoring project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing survey staff at various experience levels
  • Strong working knowledge of proposal development and client management
  • Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements
  • Maintain a safe working environment and promote a safety-first culture across the division

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Licensed Professional Surveyor (PLS/PS) in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Florida - reciprocal licensure in additional states a plus

Skills/Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive surveying experience with demonstrated field and office proficiency is required
  • Experience managing multi-project workloads across diverse market sectors including energy/utility, transportation, and boundary is required
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required, including survey database management, figure prefix libraries, linework code sets, and description key sets
  • Experience building and managing point databases, importing/exporting field data, and maintaining survey project file structures is required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage drawing templates, layer standards, and border/title block libraries specific to survey deliverables is required
  • Proficiency in preparing and QC-reviewing plats, legal descriptions, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic maps, and as-built drawings to client and regulatory standards
  • Proficiency in Trimble Business Center for field data processing, traverse adjustments, and coordinate geometry workflows with demonstrated ability to integrate TBC output into Civil 3D production environments
  • Working knowledge of GIS integration and geospatial data management as it relates to survey deliverable output

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing interaction, proposal writing, and internal coordination
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across a multi-state operation
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to interpret complex legal descriptions and survey data
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and office locations
  • Prior leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with LiDAR, UAV operations, photogrammetry, or 3D scanning workflows is preferred
  • Familiarity with Trimble Business Center, Leica Cyclone, or similar point cloud processing platforms is preferred
