What do data models do?

Data models are used by data modelers to define how data is structured, stored, and related within a database or information system. They help ensure data consistency, facilitate efficient data retrieval, and support the design of databases using tools like ER diagrams or UML. Data modelers often work with database management systems and require knowledge of data normalization and modeling techniques.
