Job description

Position Summary
The Label & Specification Specialist will manage product specification and label design within our food and beverage manufacturing environment. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, customer requirements, and internal operational capabilities. You will design customer-facing labels using Codesoft while maintaining rigorous document control and governance standards. The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic, fast-paced production setting and serve as a key liaison between R&D, Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA), Operations, and Account Management teams.
Core Responsibilities
Specification & Document Management
  • Manage global product specification data for food and beverage products, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and traceability.
  • Coordinate harmonization of specification formats across manufacturing sites to support consistent quality and regulatory adherence.
  • Establish and maintain document control procedures aligned with food safety standards.
  • Ensure alignment between R&D formulations, FSQA requirements, and customer specifications.

Label Design & Compliance
  • Design and produce food-grade labels using Codesoft by Teklynx or similar software, adhering to FDA, USDA, and international labeling regulations.
  • Collaborate with FSQA to ensure labels meet all food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with R&D to accurately reflect product formulations and claims.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to transform customer labeling requirements into compliant, manufacturable designs that align with Westrock Coffee's production capabilities.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure label designs are compatible with production line capabilities and packaging equipment.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for specification and labeling queries across R&D, FSQA, Operations, and Sales.

Project & Process Management
  • Develop and monitor project plans for new product launches, specification updates, and label changes.
  • Track project performance, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery in alignment with production schedules.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation to support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • 3--5 years of experience in document control, specification management, or labeling within the food and beverage industry.
  • Experience in Codesoft (Teklynx) for label design would be a plus
  • Working knowledge of food labeling regulations and food safety standards.
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail in a regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
