Job description

About Snorkel

At Snorkel, we believe meaningful AI doesn’t start with the model, it starts with the data. We’re on a mission to help enterprises transform expert knowledge into specialized AI at scale. The AI landscape has gone through incredible changes since 2015, when Snorkel started as a research project in the Stanford AI Lab, to the generative AI breakthroughs of today. But one thing has remained constant: the data you use to build AI is the key to achieving differentiation, high performance, and production-ready systems. We work with some of the world’s largest organizations to empower scientists, engineers, financial experts, product creators, journalists, and more to build custom AI with their data faster than ever before.

About the Role

Snorkel AI is looking for a Head of Talent Sourcing — Data as a Service to build and lead the sourcing function responsible for identifying, engaging, and securing Domain Expert Contributors who support our DaaS business. This is a critical leadership role at the intersection of talent acquisition, marketplace supply, and business operations. You will lead a team of recruiters and sourcers focused on finding highly specialized contributors across a wide range of expert domains. These may include technical, scientific, industry-specific, functional, language, data, and other hard-to-find areas of expertise needed to deliver high-quality outcomes for our customers. We are looking for someone who has built and led talent sourcing teams in complex, high-velocity environments. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in direct sourcing strategy, talent mapping, sourcing systems, tools, process design, team leadership, and operational rigor. You should know how to locate hard-to-find talent, build repeatable sourcing motions, use data to improve performance, and develop teams that can deliver against evolving business needs. This role will partner closely with our DaaS Supply team, which owns the overall Expert Contributor supply strategy. Internal talent sourcing is one of the primary levers in that strategy, and this leader will be responsible for building the team, systems, and sourcing engine required to support DaaS growth.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and scale the talent sourcing team responsible for securing Domain Expert Contributors for our Data-as-a-service business.
  • Build a scalable sourcing engine that can identify, engage, qualify, and activate expert talent across highly specialized and hard-to-fill domains.
  • Own direct sourcing strategy across priority expert categories, including talent mapping, market research, outreach strategy, channel development, and pipeline generation.
  • Partner closely with the DaaS Supply team to understand business priorities, forecast expert contributor needs, and translate supply strategy into actionable sourcing plans.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing team of recruiters and sourcers, including hiring, coaching, performance management, enablement, and team development.
  • Build sourcing playbooks, processes, systems, and operating rhythms that allow the team to move quickly while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize sourcing tools, data enrichment platforms, outreach systems, and AI-enabled sourcing capabilities.
  • Use data to track pipeline health, outreach effectiveness, conversion rates, contributor quality, speed, capacity, and source-of-supply performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across DaaS, Corporate TA, Operations, and People to improve contributor acquisition and onboarding workflows.
  • Identify new sourcing channels and talent pools for niche expert categories, including professional communities, academic networks, industry groups, competitive talent markets, referrals, and other creative sources.
  • Create feedback loops between sourcing, supply planning, contributor qualification, and business delivery teams to continuously improve sourcing precision and outcomes.
  • Ensure the sourcing function can respond to urgent and emerging customer needs while also building long-term supply capacity in strategic expert domains.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience building and leading talent sourcing, recruiting, or contributor acquisition teams focused on hard-to-fill talent profiles.
  • Deep expertise in direct sourcing strategy, including talent mapping, Boolean/search methodology, outreach strategy, AI sourcing, sourcing operations, and channel development.
  • Experience sourcing specialized talent across technical, scientific, industry, functional, language, research, data, or other expert categories.
  • A strong track record of building scalable sourcing systems, processes, playbooks, reporting, and team operating models.
  • Experience managing and developing recruiters, sourcers, or talent acquisition teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical orientation, with the ability to use data to diagnose pipeline gaps, improve conversion, forecast capacity, and drive accountability.
  • Experience partnering with business, operations, or supply teams to translate demand plans into sourcing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of sourcing tools, talent intelligence platforms, data enrichment tools, automation, and AI-enabled recruiting workflows.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across cross-functional teams and align sourcing execution to business priorities.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building a function that needs to move quickly, learn continuously, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • A creative, resourceful approach to finding talent that is not easily accessible through traditional recruiting channels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a marketplace, expert network, data services, AI data, consulting, research, contractor, freelance, or contributor-based business model.
  • Experience sourcing experts for AI, machine learning, data annotation, research, technical evaluation, industry expertise, or domain-specific data projects.
  • Experience working closely with supply, operations, or workforce planning teams.
  • Experience building talent communities, expert networks, referral programs, or specialized contributor pipelines.
  • Experience using AI, automation, or advanced sourcing tools to improve sourcing productivity and reach.
  • Experience in a hyper-growth startup or high-change technical environment.
