Job description

Amazon is looking for a Public Relations Specialist who knows local media inside and out - the journalists, the outlets, and the stories that resonate with communities. In this role, you will own media outreach across the state of Ohio, pitching stories that highlight our operations and logistics presence in metropolitan areas. As the team expands to support emerging business needs, you will partner with site leaders, communications partner teams, and business units to earn media coverage that strengthens Amazon's reputation in the communities we serve.
Key job responsibilities
Pitch local and state-level media on operations and logistics stories, leveraging your knowledge of Ohio media markets to earn placements that strengthen Amazon's community reputation.
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, social media influencers, site leaders, communications partner teams, and business units to develop coordinated communications programs.
Monitor media coverage and engagement data to identify trends and share actionable insights with your team and leadership.
Use AI tools to support content development, media monitoring, and workflow efficiency across your communications programs.
Coordinate with teammates on messaging clarity and contribute to improved processes that support operational excellence across the broader communications organization.
A day in the life
You will spend your morning scanning Ohio media coverage and preparing pitches tied to upcoming site milestones or community events

Later you might join a call with a site leader to align on messaging, brief a journalist ahead of a facility tour, or connect with a social media influencer about an upcoming campaign. In between, you will track placement results, update your team on sentiment shifts, and collaborate with a teammate on how to tighten a talking point.
About the team
Our team is made up of more than 20 communications professionals embedded in key metro areas across the United States. We represent Amazon's logistics site leaders and partner with communications teams spanning multiple business lines, which gives us exposure to a wide range of topics while building strong relationships throughout the broader organization

The team continues to grow as Amazon's operations and business lines expand, and this role is a chance to step into an established position with real impact on how local communities understand Amazon.
