Data interns and data science professionals can start at any age, including 40 or older. Many individuals transition into data roles later in their careers through self-study, online courses, and certifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Intern, you typically need foundational knowledge in data analysis, statistics, and programming languages such as Python or R, often supported by coursework in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with data visualization tools (like Tableau or Power BI), spreadsheet software, and SQL databases is commonly expected. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication skills help interns interpret data and present findings clearly. These skills are crucial for accurately analyzing data, supporting business decisions, and contributing meaningfully to projects in a collaborative environment.

Is 23 an hour good for an internship?

For a Data Intern position, $23 an hour is above the federal minimum wage and generally considered competitive for internships in many regions, especially if the role involves data analysis, programming, or using tools like Excel or SQL. However, internship pay varies by location, industry, and company size, so it's important to compare with local standards and the internship's responsibilities.

What does a data intern do?

A data intern assists with collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data to support business decisions. They often use tools like Excel, SQL, or Python and may work under supervision to develop reports, dashboards, or data models.
