A Data Integration Analyst is a professional who specializes in combining data from different sources to create a unified view for analysis and reporting. They work with various databases, applications, and data formats to ensure information flows seamlessly across systems. Their role often includes designing and maintaining data pipelines, troubleshooting integration issues, and ensuring data quality and consistency. Data Integration Analysts play a key role in helping organizations make informed decisions by providing accurate and comprehensive data.

What does a data integration analyst do?

As a data integration analyst, you perform a variety of duties related to improving and normalizing data. Your job duties include scrubbing data, writing testing scripts, performing quality control on data and data storage, and enabling data access. You ensure all computer programs are able to integrate collected data. A career as a data integration analyst requires you have some formal qualifications and education, typically at least a bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT) or a related field. You should have some prior work experience in IT, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and excellent attention to detail.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data integration analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Integration Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, proficiency in data modeling, and a solid understanding of database systems, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with ETL tools (such as Informatica or Talend), SQL, and data integration platforms is typically required, as well as knowledge of APIs and data warehousing solutions. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are valuable soft skills that help in collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for ensuring seamless data flow, accurate reporting, and strategic decision-making within organizations.

  • Integration Platforms
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Agile / Scrum
Primary Responsibilities
  • Partner with product, business, and engineering teams to validate system functionality and support ongoing platform enhancements.
  • Analyze application behavior across enterprise systems and integrations to identify issues, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Create, execute, and document test scenarios for new features, enhancements, and defect remediation efforts.
  • Develop and manage test data required to validate business workflows and transaction processing.
  • Investigate production issues through analysis of application data, API transactions, system workflows, and integration behavior.
  • Review and interpret JSON payloads exchanged between enterprise applications and integrated systems.
  • Analyze API request and response structures using Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.
  • Support root cause analysis efforts by tracing transactions across multiple systems and identifying breakdown points within business processes.
  • Execute SQL queries to validate data, troubleshoot issues, and verify expected outcomes.
  • Translate technical findings into user stories, defect tickets, enhancement requests, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to validate solutions and confirm issue resolution.
  • Document findings, recommendations, and test results in a clear and organized manner.
Quality Assurance & Testing Responsibilities
  • Design and execute functional, integration, and regression testing activities.
  • Validate data accuracy across integrated applications and transaction workflows.
  • Verify API integrations are functioning according to business and technical requirements.
  • Build and maintain reusable test scenarios and test data sets.
  • Confirm fixes and enhancements perform as expected prior to deployment.
  • Support user acceptance testing and production validation activities.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Technical Product Owner

  • Experience creating and executing test cases, test plans, and validation scenarios.
  • Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to document findings clearly and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS).
