Description of Job About the Work Unit This position is within CDOT's Highway Maintenance Section 5 Support Unit located in Aurora. This work unit provides technical support and training; establishes standards and procedures; and collects, compiles, and disseminates information within the Maintenance Section pertaining to Maintenance Level of Service (MLOS) budget in the following areas: Plant Maintenance (PM), SAP work orders, purchase requisitions, Equipment Management System (EMS), Maintenance Decision Support System (MDSS), SAP timesheets, Buildings and Property, adoption of miles, and regulations. This unit also assists in the maintenance and operations for all nine Major Program Areas (MPAs) to include equipment, materials, and personnel.
About the Position As the Technician III, you will support the Maintenance Section by diagnosing and resolving issues related systems and programs collecting data regarding highway maintenance activities. You will administer training to supervisors and maintenance personnel regarding these systems and programs to ensure accurate data collection. You will collect, compile, and disseminate information for such programs as: work orders and timesheet population, MLOS, Property and Buildings, Noxious Weed Program, Road Weather Information System (RWIS), Maintenance Decision Support System (MDSS), Consumable Inventory, Storage Tanks, MS4 Stormwater Permits, Water Quality and Well Monitoring Permits, and Computer Support.
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following Assist in the management of the SAP Plant Maintenance module. Work with field maintenance personnel, region Business Office, and other CDOT staff to ensure regionwide and statewide consistency of data collection methods and proper operations of the system. Assist the MLOS Coordinator and SAP Coordinator by inputting, correcting, and finalizing all data such as T-code work orders and timesheet population.
Monitor total expenditures (including overhead) for all MPAs, projects, building funds, Noxious Weed Program, and maintenance activities. Recommend how to fix allocated funds that are over- or underspent. Ensure accuracy of data input for these programs as well as set and maintain material costs.
Assist with the training of approximately 250 employees on SAP system process and changes and new software program changes. Assist in creating a variety of reports using historical and current data from several different CDOT systems. Create queries, table joins, dashboards, and writing scripts to produce reports that meet requested specifications.
Recommend and modify expenditure reporting and budget development tools; Track regional controlled and deferred maintenance funds and provide recommendations regarding the yearly plan. Track property and gaming project expenditures and initiate contracts. Participate in building and grounds inspections and maintenance asset inventories.
Create purchase requisitions and follow-up to ensure purchase orders are created and properly coded. Work with the Business Office and Purchasing regarding contracts, maintenance agreements, etc. Track purchase orders, contracts, and agreements and notify managers regarding renewals and funding levels.
Provide support to the snow desk by monitoring radios and phones during snow events, other weather-related events, and road closures as needed; working an 8-12 hour shift during these emergency events. Work Environment: Your schedule will primarily be 7:00AM - 3:30PM work hours, Monday-Friday. Required to participate in 24/7 coverage for emergency events, including shifts outside of regular working hours.
Required to travel to various work locations within the Denver metro area during work hours. Required to operate CDOT vehicles. Completed college coursework in business administration, accounting, finance, public administration, data management, math, or another field of study closely related to the duties of this position will be considered.
