Data Governance & AI Strategy Advisor

Inovalon

Bowie, MD

Full-time

Re-posted 6 days ago

Job description

Overview:
The Data Governance & AI Strategy Advisor is a critical leadership role responsible for the foundational health, governance, and intelligent evolution of our revenue operations ecosystem. This leader acts as the internal "Product Owner" for our commercial AI strategy and data architecture, with a laser focus on identifying and eliminating friction points in the sales process that impede bookings and revenue growth.
Recognizing that an effective AI strategy requires a flawless data foundation, this role's primary mandate is to overhaul and govern our underlying data architecture, specifically within Salesforce and interconnected systems. Upon this clean data foundation, this leader will architect and govern a continuous, "agent-first" AI strategy. This is not a project-based execution role; it is a permanent strategic pillar designed to ensure our revenue engine remains data-driven, highly efficient, and deeply sales-rep-centric.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise Data Architecture & Governance
    • Data Architecture Overhaul: Own the comprehensive redesign and optimization of the revenue organization's data architecture, identifying and resolving historical data debt and structural inefficiencies.
    • Master Data Governance: Establish, lead, and enforce robust data governance frameworks, policies, and continuous monitoring processes to ensure absolute data integrity across all go-to-market systems.
    • AI-Ready Data Enablement: Transform disparate, siloed data into a unified, "AI-ready" state. Drive the strategy for automated data hygiene, deduplication, and enrichment.
    • Cross-Functional Data Leadership: Act as the ultimate authority on revenue data standards, partnering with IT, Enterprise Data teams, and business unit leaders to ensure seamless data flow and architectural alignment company-wide.
  • AI Strategy & Internal Product Ownership
    • Internal Product Lead: Serve as the ongoing Product Manager for our internal revenue capabilities. Define the long-term product vision, manage the strategic roadmap, and govern the lifecycle of all internal sales tools and AI deployments.
    • Agent-First Transformation: Continuously evaluate sales, operational, and compensation workflows to identify opportunities for "agent-first" AI intervention. Maintain a dynamic prioritization matrix based on business impact, rep efficiency, and technical feasibility.
    • Vendor Ecosystem Management: Own the ongoing evaluation, selection, and relationship management of our AI and data vendor ecosystem, ensuring our tech stack remains cutting-edge and perfectly mapped to our strategic needs.
  • Systems Integration & Rep-Centric Operations
    • Salesforce Optimization: Leverage deep, expert-level knowledge of Salesforce architecture to ensure data and AI initiatives are seamlessly integrated into the core CRM, maximizing utility and minimizing friction.
    • Rep-Centric Workflow Design: Ensure every architectural change and AI deployment serves a singular purpose: making the sales representative's job easier, faster, and more effective. Measure success by rep adoption, reduced administrative burden, and increased selling time.
    • Change Leadership & Enablement: Lead the organizational shift toward a data-first, AI-augmented culture. Drive continuous enablement programs to ensure the sales team is fully leveraging the architectural and technological investments being made.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures, and mission statement.
    • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements in accordance with Inovalon Operating Policies and Procedures.
    • Fulfill additional responsibilities reasonably assigned to support the operational and financial success of Inovalon.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience spanning Revenue/Sales Operations, Enterprise Data Architecture, and GTM Systems Strategy.
  • Deep architectural expertise in CRM platforms (specifically Salesforce), with a proven ability to untangle complex data models and rebuild them for scale.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-wide Data Governance programs and resolving systemic data quality challenges.
  • Strong "product management" background, with experience owning internal tech stack roadmaps and treating internal operations as a deployable product.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing AI-driven sales enablement and automation tools.
  • Exceptional ability to bridge the gap between highly technical data architecture concepts and practical, everyday sales execution.

Core Competencies:

  • Enterprise Data Architecture & Modeling: The ability to design, structure, and optimize complex data ecosystems to support advanced analytics and AI.
  • Data Governance & Stewardship: The discipline to establish, monitor, and enforce data quality standards, compliance, and policies across the organization.
  • AI Product Management & Strategy: The capacity to treat the GTM technology stack as an internal product, defining a vision, roadmap, and prioritization matrix.
  • Sales-Rep Centric Workflow Design: A relentless focus on the end-user experience, ensuring tech and data changes decrease administrative friction and increase selling time.
  • Strategic Vendor Evaluation & Integration: The ability to rigorously assess, shortlist, and integrate third-party AI and data technologies into the existing stack
  • Transformational Change Leadership: The ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, drive cultural adoption of new technologies, and manage friction.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time);
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
  • Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
