Job Description Job Description Summary
The Data Governance Manager is accountable in defining data policies that will govern data management procedures involving the specific business unit's data elements and requirements. He/she proactively ensures data quality is maintained and with data privacy compliance; collaborates cross functional data interfaces; and enables the Analytics Team to deliver relevant and accurate models and insights as well as drive action within the enterprise to ensure that data is available, usable, consistent and secure. Leads data issue resolution efforts, necessarily involved in systems and applications implementation, enhancement and migration owned by their particular business unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process

  • Establish Data Governance Policies that covers the data lifecycle of their business unit stakeholder

  • Establish procedures for data security and privacy regulation compliance. This includes defining and assuring compliance to securing how data is collected, stored, accessed, shared, and used within the organization (ie Data Governance framework).

  • Define, Track and Manage Data Quality KPIs and consolidate across the enterprise

  • Implement controls and compliance metrics to reduce data issues and improve data quality

  • Develop evaluation methods, data profiling and establish data lineages to provide their specific internal customers with feedback and recommendations for improvements in data management and governance process, standards and guidelines

  • Design processes and relevant trainings as well as lead initiatives to ensure alignment of different data owners to data policies

Business

  • Report and escalate to the Data Governance Council data quality issues/improvements with corresponding recommendations on data management and governance strategies as recommended resolutions.

  • Collaborates with reporting and operational segments to ensure data quality standards are met, errors and root causes identified

  • Identify, prioritize and lead Enterprise-wide data governance initiatives to deliver substantial improvements in data quality, availability and usability across the enterprise

  • Plan, manage, monitor and communicate data policies, including data quality KPIs to stakeholders throughout the process.

  • Align data governance with strategic business objectives by ensuring that DG policies aligns with the organizations' goals and scorecard metrics (Core KPIs) and be able to prioritize critical measure including defining SLAs for issue resolutions depending on the significance of impacted stakeholders - customer, revenue, reporting and analytics.

People

  • Manage and drive teams to run and deliver initiatives designed to resolve data quality issues

  • Manage project risks and issues and manage stakeholder's expectations on initiatives started and follow through on benefits realizations.

  • Mentor team members and provide training as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must Have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in SQL and Data Analysis.

  • 3 years of experience in any of Master Data, Data Quality, Data Integration

  • 3 years of experience with implementing or managing enterprise-scale data warehouse or data management projects - understanding data tools

  • 5 years of experience in working with data management teams

  • 3 years of enterprise scale data warehouse

  • Ability to understand the key drivers, dependencies and risks

  • Strong understanding of data tools (cleansing, master data management, metadata, etc.) and data quality policies and procedure

  • Meticulous attention to detail with an overall passion for discipline

  • Ability to understand and assess potential risk

  • Deep understanding of data governance, data management principles/processes

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related degree

Nice To Have:

  • 3 years of experience managing people or leading project teams

  • 3 years of experience with implementing or managing enterprise-scale data warehouse or data management projects

  • Certification in relevant database and business intelligence

  • Understanding of billing, provisioning applications
