Job Description

The Customer Service Specialist is the primary initial contact for citizens, other agencies, and organizations both in person and via the telephone. Respect, service, cooperation, and friendliness are essential elements to a professional and welcoming atmosphere of City Hall. The incumbent is expected to possess excellent customer service skills, maintain composure in difficult situations and obtain and disseminate knowledge of general City operations. This position serves as the back-up for the Finance Administrative Clerk.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • General Office Experience
  • Tact, patience and courtesy in dealing with customers and employees
  • Computer experience includeing word processing, spreadsheets, data entry
  • Work in an open office environment where the work of others may cause distraction, in addition to the requirement to respond to phones and in- person contact.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve visitors to City Hall by greeting, welcoming, directing, and announcing them appropriately.
  • Provide general information to internal and external customers as needed.
  • Answer, screen, and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information when needed.
  • Act as back up for Finance Administrative Clerk
  • Assist with Utility Billing duties
  • Maintain departmental supply inventory and order supplies as necessary.
  • Assist in other clerical support to departments as needed.
