Job description

Summary of Warehouse Associate Position

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for maintaining Pella processes with regard to the productivity, efficiency and safety of the warehouse. Daily responsibilities include coordination of warehouse product and working with radio frequency scanners. Receives, stores, and distributes material, supplies, equipment, and products within the company by performing documented duties (see below). Must be knowledgeable of and/or capable of performing all jobs in the department. Must be safety conscious.


Warehouse Associate Responsibilities

  • Reads load lists, production schedule, customer, or shipping instructions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, verifies load lists, and moves materials and items to storage, production, service, office, or other designated areas. Assists the driver of the Pella delivery truck on assigned route if needed.
  • Sorts and places warehouse materials or items on racks, shelves, pallets or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as location, order number, size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, marking the material with identifying information.
  • Notifies manager or coworkers of shortages, discrepancies or anticipated needs
  • Operates radio frequency scanners.
  • Drives/Operates material handling equipment (i.e. cherry picker, wheeled carts, etc.) upon certification.
  • Meets company safety requirements by keeping work area neat and clean, following safety precautions, wearing required safety apparel and reporting any safety concerns to supervisor
  • Promotes and facilitates continuous improvement activities in the department
  • Performs visual quality inspections on product while loading and unloading


Warehouse Associate Qualifications

  • Basic data entry, math and computer skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works in a way that prevents damage to product
  • Is able to frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with assistance (The employee may be required to perform tasks 1-2 stories above ground)
  • Meets company safety requirements by keeping work area neat and clean, following safety precautions and wearing required safety apparel (i.e. shoes, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) and reporting any safety concerns to supervisor
  • Prior knowledge of general construction applications and terminology and/or window and door applications or components
