Cashier

Salary Range $14.70 - $14.70 Hourly Position Type Part Time Job Shift Any Category Restaurant - Food Service

Job Summary

Responsible for enacting cash and credit card transactions for menu items purchased by guests throughout the daily restaurant serving hours. Accountable To: Restaurant General Manager / Training General Manager Work To Be Performed:

  • Greet guests, receive food orders, repeat food orders, charge the appropriate price for each menu item ordered by guests, receive the correct amount tendered by guests and provide the correct change for each transaction.
  • Be able to enact gift cards requested by guests.
  • Be very familiar with and up to date with California Fish Grill Restaurant's menu and prices.
  • Interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner.
  • Ability to make corrections to guest orders in a fast and efficient manner.
  • Ability to determine counterfeit money and respond to situations involving counterfeit money.
  • Assure age requirements are verified prior to serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Treat all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction.
  • Report to work in a neat and clean uniform. Well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used
  • Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned

General Responsibilities:

  1. Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of California Fish Grill and the facility.
  2. Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:
  • Safety, including precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
  • Confidentiality of all data, including guest credit card information.
  • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

3. Supports and participates in common teamwork:

  • Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or guests regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
  • Promotes positive public relations with community, family members and guests.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years related work experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Prior experience in related to cashier or food service positions
  • Valid ServSafe or other approved Food Handler Certification
  • High level of integrity and honesty

Working Conditions:

  • Restaurant environment. When warranted, may be required to work beyond normal working hours as needed to meet guest needs or restaurant requirements.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Frequent standing, reaching with hands and arms, stooping and kneeling.
  • Maintain composure when dealing with staff and occasionally under conditions of urgency and/or pressure situations in a fast-paced environment.
