SUMMARY:
To assist the immediate supervisors in the daily operations of the Technology Department. Must maintain an effective working relationship with administrators, staff, parents, students, community, and businesses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintain and process records related to the district technology work order system.
  • Performs counts and ensures all technology inventory is accounted for and reported.
  • Follows proper procedures for disposal of school technology items.
  • Implements district technology inventory program, including tagging, locating, identifying, and pricing the district's technology assets.
  • Performs data entry for technology inventory received and dispatched to, from, and between district buildings.
  • Processes and documents technology returns, warranty claims, signed deliveries, and bids as required.
  • Maintains accurate records, files, and accounts for program/department requirements.
  • Types, prepares, organizes, distributes, and files the records, reports, and correspondence related to respective departments.
  • Sorting both US Mail and interoffice mail and organizing for delivery.
  • Works closely with bench techs and managers on equipment disposal. Sends out vendor communication to request quotes and coordinate pickup
  • Performs on-site audits with bench techs/building techs. Focuses on Chromebook movements, student assignments, support and training.
  • Processes and logs district WiFi Plans (cell phones, hotspots, tablets)
  • Maintains Cell phone inventory, ordering and billing, tracking, programming, maintenance, and training
  • Handles District phone system, programming, creates and publishes district & building directories, level 1 phone support and training
  • E-faxes, programming, publishing of numbers, level 1 support and training.
  • Maintain discretion and loyalty with confidential information.
  • Serves as confidential office support to the Technology Department's administration.
  • Makes and receives telephone calls, takes messages, routes calls.
  • Process and log district cell phone / wireless hotspot plans / bills.
  • Update and maintain phone database information.
  • Programs cell phones and creates district directory; updates web for communications.
  • Regularly checks and orders office/technical supplies.
  • Processes paperwork and communication for warranty purposes.
  • Assist in team and district technology projects
  • Processes orders and requisitions as required for the position.
  • To have an extensive knowledge of the operations of the school district as they relate to the operations of the Technology Department.
  • To have a thorough knowledge of local, state, and other rules, regulations, guidelines, and legislation applicable to the Technology Department.
  • To have a thorough knowledge of the policies of the Bay City Board of Education.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, administrators, parents, students, community, and businesses.
  • To communicate effectively and diplomatically with students, teachers, staff, parents, administrators, community, and businesses.
  • Good listener using a calming mannerism when individuals are angry or a stressful situation is present.
  • Perform computer and recording duties as applicable to the position.
  • Use good judgment in making decisions.
  • Accumulate, verify, and file information relative to the Technology Department.
  • Assist in preparation for monitoring and compliance reviews/visits.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and minimum of two years previous office experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff, students and the community. Demonstrated ability to use both oral and written English appropriately and effectively. Demonstrated effective phone etiquette.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic math computations including rates, ratio, and percents using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrate a high degree of math proficiency and the ability to perform projections for budgeting purposes.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in decision-making.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to successfully pass basic competency, computer skills testing assessments and ability to successfully pass District skills testing. Demonstrated ability to proficiently operate a computer and related software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, the school community, and businesses. Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and remain professional in stressful situations. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties through knowledge of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to prioritize work and organize work; with delegating as appropriate. Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of discretion and loyalty. Ability to multi-task with numerous interruptions.
