About this Role:
Consertus is currently looking for an experienced Clerk of the Works for our Federal group working onsite on a project in the Burlington, VT area. You will be responsible for ensuring work performed by the Program Management staff is following quality standards and that the A/E and construction contractors are following their quality standards. You will document inspections and submit recommendations to GSA for approval or rejection of work in place. Inspection services include, but are not limited to, adherence to construction documents and contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule, coordinate, and perform daily project field inspections of all work
  • Review equipment, materials and workmanship
  • Observe Contractor Quality Control activities
  • Observe Health and Safety plan and other Contractor provided plan compliance
  • Observe Testing procedures
  • Maintain inspection logs
  • Prepare progress and final inspection reports for each inspection
  • Record defects and/or omissions
  • Report on problems encountered in the performance of the work
  • Maintain daily logs on required corrections and post status reports
  • Document all qualitative and quantitative differences between construction contract documents and actual work in place
    • Defects And Omissions the CMa must:
      • Track and maintain an on-going list of observed defects and omissions in the work and issue to the Project Delivery Team and GSA.
      • Re-issue the list as there are modifications and additions.
      • Provide recommendations to GSA relative to corrective action prior to substantial completion.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction or extensive relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • Previous experience as a lead inspector is preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years specialized experience in the work to be performed under this contract
  • Experience in preparing correspondence and maintaining official construction site records
  • Experience in conducting meetings to resolve problems on construction projects, and briefing clients and management personnel
  • In-depth knowledge of construction practices and workmanship, including experience in proper uses of construction materials and installation methods
  • In-depth experience in interpreting construction drawings and specifications on construction projects.
  • Ability to accurately calculate construction costs and time impacts for changes.
  • Experience in making materials take-offs for construction work, pricing the value of needed work, evaluating proposals and Bill of materials, negotiating equitable contract adjustments.
  • Ability and experience in the inspection of materials, workmanship, and construction and installation of various systems (such as fire alarm systems) within the inspector's area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry including a background of familiarity with OSHA safety requirements on construction projects.
