Pipeline Operator
Join a dynamic team as a Pipeline Operator, where you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable transportation of liquids and gases across critical pipelines. Based in Carlsbad, NM, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment and collaborate with a skilled team dedicated to maintaining the highest safety standards. If you have a passion for pipeline operations and safety, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact in the energy industry.
What You'll Do:

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain pipelines, stations, and related equipment to guarantee safe transportation
  • Perform start-up, shutdown, commissioning, decommissioning, and isolation activities
  • Execute pigging operations, including utility, batching, cleaning, and ILI procedures, ensuring accurate checks and documentation
  • Use SCADA systems and field instrumentation to monitor flows, pressure, volume, and quality; identify abnormal conditions and optimize operations
  • Comply with DOT PHMSA regulations for gas and liquids and maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records
  • Support safety initiatives by participating in JSAs, safety meetings, and drills
  • Conduct leak surveys, ROW patrols, and facility inspections, supporting integrity management activities
  • Use approved tools and equipment for line locating, mapping, and field activities
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, engineers, and control room personnel to ensure seamless operations
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentations utilizing advanced Microsoft Office skills
Required Skills:
  • 2-3 years of experience in pipeline or field technician roles
  • Strong understanding of pipeline operations and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret alignment sheets, P&IDs, stationing, contours, and one-lines
  • Knowledge of corrosion control, LACT operations, and station equipment preferred
  • Proficient in SCADA systems, instrumentation, and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Computer savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to follow strict safety protocols and act with urgency when needed
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Permitting experience
  • Pumper experience and process flow understanding
  • Data entry and documentation experience
  • Familiarity with GIS and mapping systems
  • Experience with project design specifications and emergency procedures
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in pipeline operations is a plus
  • Prior experience as a Field Technician or similar role in pipeline or energy operations
Other Requirements:
  • Valid certifications and active Qualification (OQ) for pipeline tasks
  • Ability to work a Monday-Friday shift with call-out rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain necessary safety and operational certifications
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with field work, including navigation and equipment handling
