What you'll do
The Process Optimization Reference Data Management Body Shop role focuses on ensuring that SAP reference data for the body shop is accurate, consistent, and well-managed. By optimizing data processes, this role improves operational efficiency, minimizes production disruptions, and ensures smooth coordination across various departments. Key responsibilities include managing SAP data, troubleshooting discrepancies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and continuously improving processes. This position requires strong expertise in SAP, process optimization, data management, and the body shop manufacturing environment.

SAP Reference Data Management for the Body Shop:
  • Data Integrity and Accuracy: Manage and maintain reference data in SAP, particularly related to the body shop's operations. This includes data such as material master, part numbers, BOM (Bill of Materials), routing information, and other reference data used in body shop production.
  • Data Validation: Ensure the accuracy of reference data by validating and cross-referencing data entries in SAP. This includes data related to production schedules, material types, components, and vendor information specific to the body shop.
  • Material Master Data Management: Oversee and manage material master data, ensuring proper classification and specification of parts, materials, and components used in the body shop. Ensure correct data is accessible for inventory management, procurement, and production planning.
  • Corrective Action for Data Discrepancies: Identify, investigate, and correct discrepancies in the SAP reference data affecting body shop operations. Work closely with IT, supply chain, and production teams to resolve issues.
  • Standardization of Data: Ensure that reference data for the body shop is standardized across systems and platforms to ensure consistency in operations.

Process Optimization:
  • Process Improvement for Data Flow: Evaluate and improve processes related to SAP reference data management in the body shop. Identify opportunities for improvement in data entry, management, and access to improve operational efficiency.
  • Automation of Data Handling: Work with the IT team to implement automated systems or processes for managing reference data, reducing manual errors, and speeding up data entry processes.
  • Lean and Six Sigma Principles: Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to optimize data management processes, minimizing waste and increasing efficiency in the body shop's operations.
  • Optimization of Production and Material Flow: Collaborate with the body shop's production teams to ensure that SAP data (such as materials, parts, and tools) is aligned with production schedules to prevent bottlenecks or shortages in production.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
  • Work with IT Teams: Collaborate with IT departments to maintain and enhance the SAP system for reference data management. Ensure that any system changes or upgrades align with the body shop's operational needs.
  • Coordination with Production and Supply Chain: Work closely with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth coordination of materials, schedules, and data in the body shop. Ensure that reference data in SAP is always aligned with current production requirements.
  • Supplier Coordination: Coordinate with suppliers to ensure that incoming materials or components are correctly reflected in SAP, minimizing discrepancies or delays caused by incorrect reference data.

Data Governance and Compliance:
  • Data Governance Practices: Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure that reference data in SAP meets organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Audit and Compliance: Regularly audit SAP reference data for accuracy and compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Ensure that all data-related activities are properly documented for audit purposes.
  • Data Security: Ensure that SAP data is securely stored, accessed, and transferred, complying with data security policies and industry best practices.

Reporting and Documentation:
  • Generate Reports: Create regular reports on SAP reference data, tracking key metrics such as data accuracy, updates, and discrepancies. Share insights with management to support decision-making.
  • Documentation of Processes: Document all SAP data management processes, changes, and system configurations related to the body shop, ensuring that the team follows standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Exception Reporting: Generate exception reports for data discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies that may impact body shop operations, and work to resolve them promptly.

Training and Support:
  • Provide Training: Train body shop employees, including warehouse and production staff, on proper data entry and handling procedures in SAP. Ensure that the team understands the importance of accurate reference data and follows best practices.
  • User Support: Provide ongoing support to users across departments who interact with SAP data. This may include troubleshooting issues, answering questions, or guiding staff through data management processes.

Location & Travel Expectations:
  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Experience:
  • SAP Experience: Proven experience working with SAP, specifically in modules related to materials management (MM), production planning (PP), or warehouse management (WM / EWM). Knowledge of SAP systems as they relate to the body shop and manufacturing environments is critical.
  • Data Management Experience: At least 4 years of experience in managing data processes, reference data, or inventory in a manufacturing or logistics environment, ideally within the automotive industry.
  • Process Optimization Experience: Experience in optimizing processes and workflows, particularly related to SAP data entry, material handling, and production scheduling in a manufacturing setting.
  • Body Shop Experience (Preferred): Familiarity with body shop production processes, parts, and materials used in automotive manufacturing.

Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's Degree: A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. An equivalent amount of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Certifications (Optional): SAP certifications or process optimization certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean) are a plus.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial Base Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00
