Job description

Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Analytics & Data Products, you will lead day-to-day delivery of the data application portfolio, working across requirements, interface design, build, deployment, and ongoing support. You will partner directly with business units to turn manual processes and spreadsheet workarounds into governed applications backed by Snowflake. You will do this within the bank's data governance and security framework, partnering with our governance and data quality functions so that the applications our business partners rely on are accurate, secure, and supportable.
What You'll Do
  • Lead and develop members of the data application development team, providing day-to-day direction, coaching, career development, and performance reviews.
  • Serve as the senior hands-on builder on the team, personally delivering the most complex and most visible data applications.
  • Design, build, and maintain data applications in Sigma, including input tables, write-back workflows, row-level and column-level security, and embedded experiences.
  • Build and maintain Power Apps that give business users governed interfaces for data entry, approvals, and operational workflows.
  • Build and maintain Power Automate flows that automate manual business processes and connect Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Snowflake.
  • Design, build, and support Microsoft Teams bots and other conversational or in-workflow interfaces that deliver data where users already work.
  • Set development standards for the data application portfolio, including version control, environment promotion, naming conventions, testing, and code review.
  • Translate business requirements into application designs, facilitating discovery conversations that get past the initial request to the underlying process problem.
  • Own the support model for data applications, including issue triage, enhancement intake, release communication, and user training.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to define the data models and pipelines that data applications depend on, rather than building around gaps in the platform.
  • Ensure data applications adhere to enterprise data governance and security standards, including access control, sensitive data handling, and audit requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for applications, processes, and development best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to replace manual processes, spreadsheets, and legacy tools with governed, supportable applications.

Requirements For Success
Education: Bachelor's degree or above in a related field, or equivalent hands-on development experience.
Experience: 5 to 7 years building business-facing applications, dashboards, or workflow automation, including experience mentoring or setting direction for other developers.
Required Skills:
  • Hands-on proficiency building business-facing applications on modern analytics and low-code platforms, primarily Sigma, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Microsoft Teams on top of Snowflake. Deep experience with some of these and the ability to learn the others quickly is preferred over surface familiarity with all of them.
  • Experience designing usable interfaces for non-technical business users, including forms, write-back, and self-service interaction patterns.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including SharePoint, Teams, and the Power Platform.
  • Understanding of application lifecycle practices such as source control, environment separation, testing, and release management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with business partners and explain technical tradeoffs in plain language.
  • Ability to prioritize across a portfolio of applications and competing stakeholder requests.
  • Experience mentoring, reviewing the work of, or setting technical direction for other developers.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Power Platform administration, including environments, connectors, and data loss prevention policies.
  • Experience with Snowflake, including Streamlit in Snowflake or native application patterns.
  • Experience embedding analytics into third-party applications or portals.
  • Familiarity with Python or another scripting language for automation and integration work.
  • Background in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience replacing legacy reporting or manual, spreadsheet-driven processes with modern applications.
