Job description

Role: Data Center Technician- PR shift (3-11pm)

Location: Kansas City, MO- Local- ONSITE

Duration: Long Term Contract

Responsibilities: -

  • Install and label servers, switches and appliances as requested
  • Add hardware components to server as required
  • Mount and unmounts server in rack
  • Plug in cables (power, network and storage)
  • Power up server and configure ILO
  • Disconnect power, network and storage cables
  • Install and remove cables as needed
  • Connect and disconnect cables at the network and storage switches
  • Package servers and ship to remote office
  • Check workflow spreadsheet for decommissions
  • Take assignment, assign locations in PDP
  • Add and remove devices to DCMS (data entry), cabinets, devices, PDU?s etc.
  • Scan WWN (worldwide numbers) to PDP (data entry)
  • Adjust Bios setting
  • Update PDP in stages as work is completed (data entry)
  • Add SAN fiber serial numbers to the PDP (data entry)
  • Acknowledge PDPs and verify the information is correct; Acknowledge RITs for cable request
  • Check port availability on both network switches, storage switches and patch panels
  • Measure distance between devices for proper cable lengths both copper and fiber
  • Create spreadsheet to make wire wrap labels
  • Make labels and attach them to the cables prior to installing them
  • Install cables in computer room, computer room annex and communications room
  • Plug cables into patch panels, bit network and storage
  • Plug cables in on both network and storage switches
  • Input cable information into PDP, fiber serial numbers, patch panel port.
