The Opportunity

As a Protection, Automation and Communication Solutions Manager, you will establish the strategic direction for market approach, sales campaigns, and market share growth related to the delivery of Protection, Automation, and Communication Solutions within the utility and commercial and industrial sectors. You will support pre-sales activities across the Canada East region, working closely with sales personnel, account managers, and customers to identify, develop, and advance business opportunities. The role involves promoting substation automation and distribution automation products and solutions, communicating solution capabilities, leading product and solution evaluation activities, and supporting customer approval processes. You will engage with stakeholders across business units, maintain customer relationships, address technical inquiries, monitor market activity, and communicate competitor developments. Through these activities, you will contribute to the deployment of protection, automation, communication, and control technologies that support power system performance and ongoing innovation.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Drive pre-sales activities to achieve order targets related to substation automation and distribution automation products and solutions.
  • Take an active role in identifying, proposing, and closing business opportunities.
  • Support and communicate substation automation strategies, solution capabilities, and strategic direction.
  • Lead sales calls with regional sales personnel and account managers and follow up on opportunities.
  • Identify customer needs and support the advancement of opportunities into business.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across business units and coordinate efforts focused on major clients.
  • Deliver technical presentations on protection, automation, and communication solutions to customer stakeholders.
  • Lead product and solution evaluation, homologation, and customer approval activities.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required; MBA or MSEE preferred. Other technical disciplines could be considered with additional experience and achievements.
  • Minimum 7 years of power system experience with specialized protection and control product sales experience; new customer development activities in the utility sector are a plus.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strategic customer relationships and working within a matrix organization.
  • Knowledge of substation automation products, protection relays, utility communications equipment, SCADA systems, Remote Terminal Units, and related products.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 50% across Canada and fluency in English.
