JOB SUMMARY:

The Storeroom Clerk supports the Purchasing Department by receiving, storing, and distributing supplies to hospital departments, and by providing general administrative support under the direction of the Purchasing Supervisor. The role requires strong verbal and written communication skills for daily interaction with internal staff and external vendors.


This position is expected to learn and apply storeroom procedures independently, build professional and cooperative working relationships across departments, and maintain a high level of organization, reliability, and attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.


DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:


The Purchasing Department provides five-day coverage Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Purchasing is responsible for ordering, storing and delivering of supplies to all hospital departments by requisitions or carts, and performs other purchasing functions in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.  


 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: 

• Accurately receives incoming supplies and equipment; inspects and compares delivered goods against approved purchase orders, noting damage or shortages.

• Picks and delivers stock and non-stock orders from storeroom inventory to hospital departments, both on and off campus on a timely basis, via delivery carts or company vehicles.

• Shelves and stores incoming stock and non-stock supplies and equipment in a neat, orderly manner; assures items are placed in correct bin locations.

• Performs cycle counts of physical inventory on a regular schedule; rotates stock to avoid expired or incorrect picks.

• Accurately enters storeroom requisitions and inventory transactions into the materials management/purchasing software system.

• Routes packing slips and related documentation to appropriate personnel; maintains department records, stock orders, and files accurately.

• Prepares outgoing shipments and returns, ensuring proper packaging and documentation.

• Performs general clerical support for the department, including filing, typing, data entry, correspondence, and answering phones.

• Keeps the storeroom area clean, organized, and free of clutter; meets regulatory storage requirements, including proper handling of hazardous materials per MSDS/SDS guidelines.

• Operates manual material-handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack, hand truck) safely as required to perform duties.

• Carries radio for inter-departmental communications.

• Performs other related purchasing/storeroom duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

  •  High school diploma or equivalent required 

Experience: 

• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a purchasing, storeroom, or supply chain environment.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), digital document formats, and web-based ordering/inventory systems.

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations by hand or machine for inventory counts and reorder quantities.


Licensure/Certification: 

• Valid driver's license required.
