Data Entry Specialist

Job Summary: Data enter the prescription drug information from applications submitted by agents for Medicare Supplement Insurance. Identify any problems with the prescription drug information section of the application and make outbound phone calls to obtain needed information required for processing. Primary Responsibilities other duties may be assigned as necessary: Using a web-based program, data enter the prescription drug information into the database, ensuring that prescription drug name, date originally prescribed, dose age and frequency are captured correctly. Recognize misspelled prescription drug names, recognize accurate dosages, and should have a use of general knowledge of what a prescription medication can be commonly used to treat. Make outgoing calls to agents for information that is left blank or unclear in the prescription drug information section of the application. Produce and send outbound electronic notices to agents related to delays, problems and/or missing information. Assist with data entering applications using the main frame computer system.

Primary Skills & Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or GED equivalent Six months to one-year of related experience or minimum one-year experience in an advanced clerical position using independent judgement Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and written handouts. Insurance background preferred Familiarity with Microsoft Office products Excellent communication and documentation skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively and efficiently Reliable transportation and the ability to be punctual and dependable Ability to work scheduled shifts, rotate schedules with other employees for proper department staffing needs and work overtime as needed. Proven prescription drug knowledge; Pharmacy background preferred May have agent license but no active appointments
