Job description

Job Title:Summer 2027 Intern - Waterford Site Quality (QC)Summary:As a Quality Control Intern, you will support high-impact initiatives that drive continuous improvement across our Waterford, NY site. From optimizing lab methods and analyzing defect trends to supporting certification efforts, lab planning, and technician training, you will collaborate with experts and gain hands-on experience strengthening quality systems and operational excellence. This role is ideal for a self-starter pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bio-Chemical Engineering, Biology, or a related technical field, with lab experience preferred.Responsibilities Include:
  • Complete Quality Risk Assessment and Process Mapping for a minimum of 3 Waterford Assets including process mapping.

  • Test method optimization under direction of Quality Chemist.

  • Complete trend analysis on defect data to identify continuous improvement opportunities. Formulate solutions and improvement plan.

  • Support of AS9100 Certification and MLIMS project teams

  • Identify locations and help develop plan for extended retain sample storage.

  • Work on 5-year CapEx plan for the labs, put together all of the separate documents into a single plan. Turn into a working file for future reference. Include plans to eliminate single source equipment by lab test methods.Insure we have back up plans for all test methods.

  • Develop technician training plan for new lab technicians onboarding to Quality Control Laboratories.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Bio-chemical Engineering, Biology, or equivalent field of study.

  • Attention to detail - ability to document new processes and procedures.

  • Self-starter - Proactively identify new opportunities to drive efficiencies in Quality and Service at Waterford, NY site.

  • Computer skills including Excel and Powerpoint. Minitab or other statistical analysis tool preferred.

  • Knowledge of Basic statistics and/or successful completion of university-level mathematics courses.

  • Prior experience training or teaching technical topics to small groups considered a plus.

  • Ability to quickly learn new software platforms to support project work.

  • Minimum GPA 3.0

Program Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.

  • The candidate is expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August.
