S&B is currently seeking an Project Engineering Intern who will be responsible for the coordination of engineering and design activities on small project and alliance or task force applications. Functionally reports to a Project Lead, Project Engineer, or Project Manager.

EDUCATION
Prefer a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. In lieu, will consider a full-time engineering student with management hiring approval.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The Project Engineering Intern is for an individual with minimal to no experience but who meets the educational requirements.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Obtains a well-defined overall project scope of work from the project lead or project manager.
  • Assists with the facilitation of model reviews by recording action items, lessons learned, and meeting notes under the direction of the Project Lead / Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Facilitates project squad check meetings to collect comments and ensure documentation is transmitted.
  • Participates in MOC reviews with the client by recording action items, lessons learned, and meeting notes under the direction of the Project Lead / Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Initiates project change orders anytime changes to scope affect the budget or schedule. Works with the disciplines to define hours and scope.
  • Supports the design team during model reviews, compiles relevant notes and tags for distribution to the project team and client.
  • Records regular project meeting notes and distributes them to client and project team.
  • Performs cold eye reviews of engineering work packages prior to issuing to the client, looking for project specific consistency across control documents, constructability issues, vendor data receipt, and accuracy of title block and transmittal data all under the direction of the Project Lead or Project Manager.
  • Completes and records Quality Incident Reports (QIR) to help trend ongoing project/client specific issues.
  • Maintains Action Item Log and Needs List for the area/project.
  • Responsible for logging project RFIs and tracking timely closure of each RFI.
  • Prepares FEL scope books.
  • Assists with preparation of the Project Instructions and Procedures Manual (PIPM) and Project Quality Manual.
  • Prepares and maintains team contact list and distribution matrix.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and standards, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, managers, designers, and engineers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Occasionally may conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. It also requires clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally, will conduct or participate in field trips to existing plants. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and airborne particles.
