Job description

Summary:
We are seeking a talented Engineer II/III to help advance our Claims technology platform by designing and delivering scalable, data-driven solutions that enhance the end-to-end claims experience. In this role, you will develop innovative software applications that streamline claims processing, enable faster and more accurate decision-making, and support seamless integration across enterprise systems.
As a member of a collaborative, cross-functional team, you will work closely with software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software solutions. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical decisions, contribute to system design and architecture, and leverage customer feedback and data insights to continuously improve products and services.
The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex business problems through technology, thrives in an agile environment, and enjoys balancing technical excellence with delivering measurable value to end users. This role provides increasing autonomy and responsibility, empowering you to make a meaningful impact on both the Claims platform and customer experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with architects and senior engineers on technical design discussions, helping shape scalable, innovative solutions that meet both business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Design, develop, implement, and test complex software solutions using modern engineering practices, coding standards, and test-driven development (TDD) principles.
  • Create comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality, maintainable code that meets functional and performance expectations.
  • Participate in peer code reviews, sharing constructive feedback and contributing to a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Build technology solutions aligned with MAPFRE's IT strategy, translating business goals into technical requirements and selecting the right tools and technologies to deliver value.
  • Partner closely with testers and quality assurance teams to ensure code quality, successful user acceptance testing, and reliable software releases.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends, actively contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Champion software quality by proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving defects while validating solutions against business and technical specifications.
  • Develop and execute quality control processes that support established quality standards and help deliver reliable, high-performing software solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • 3-7 years of hands-on experience developing software solutions using relevant programming languages, applying core software engineering principles, and contributing to projects comparable in scope and complexity to those supported by the Mapfre Engineer II/III team.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and leveraging collaboration and productivity tools such as Jira, Confluence, Lucid, GitHub, and Microsoft Copilot to support planning, design, documentation, development, and team collaboration is strongly preferred.
  • Guidewire experience preferred.
