Job description

The Travelers Indemnity Company has an opening for a Data Engineer II in Hartford, CT. This position is 100% remote; may work from home.

Build and operationalize complex IT data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommending data cleansing/quality solutions. Design complex IT data solutions. Perform analysis of complex sources to determine value and use and recommend data to include in analytical processes. Incorporate core data management tools and competencies including data governance, data security and data quality. Collaborate within and across teams to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products/analytic environment. Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for complex defects and incidents and correct as appropriate. Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.

Must possess at least a bachelors degree or its equivalent and at least 6 years of progressive experience as an Engineer or in a related role working with Data. In the alternative, at least a masters degree or its equivalent and at least 4 years of experience as an Engineer or a related role working with Data would be acceptable. Must also possess at least 4 years of experience with: Python, PySpark, Scala, or SQL; relational and NoSQL databases (i.e. Teradata, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, DB2, Oracle, DynamoDB, MongoDB); modern software engineering practices (Cloud/Big Data, Analytics, Parsing, Requirements, Data Engineering); Databricks and AWS (hybrid environments); Business Insurance data and data products; and demonstrable experience with: Insurance data concepts (premium, losses, insurable objects, coverages) for Actuarial/Analytics; building robust data pipelines and working with large-scale datasets; and translating data/AI vision into objectives, roadmaps, and deliverables.

Approximately 40 hours per week; the salary for this position is at least $163,821 to $199,200 per year.
