Job description

Join Esri`s Professional Services team and help design and deliver mission critical geospatial data platforms that support national security.

In this role, you will work directly with mission focused organizations to architect, deploy, and optimize enterprise data environments that power ArcGIS-driven systems. You will operate across complex, secure infrastructures, combining system engineering and data engineering expertise to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.

You will design and implement robust database solutions while also supporting the broader system architecture, working across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments to enable high impact operational workflows.

This is an opportunity to apply your expertise at the intersection of infrastructure and data, building systems that ensure mission critical information is secure, accessible, and ready for real time decision making.

Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the Washington DC area for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment
  • Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Monitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (such as query optimization, indexing strategies)
  • Implement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards across environments
  • Automate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency
  • Provide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration projects
Requirements
  • 8+ years of hands‑on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
  • Demonstrated experience with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security
  • Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
  • Understanding of geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
  • US citizenship with Active or Current (within 2 years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
Recommended Qualifications
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases
  • Knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems
  • CompTIA Security + certification
  • One or more industry-standard IT certifications (such as Esri, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS or related STEM field
