Job Summary:
Tesla is looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join their Field Reliability Data Team, focusing on enhancing the handling of millions of repair records from service and vehicle fleet data. The role involves designing and maintaining scalable data pipeline architecture, collaborating with stakeholders, and developing data pipelines for analytics teams.
Responsibilities:
• Design and maintain scalable data pipeline architecture, while advancing the automation and standardization of our ETL processes
• Identify, design, and implement process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing queries, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including IT Business Intelligence team, to resolve data-related technical issues and support ETL infrastructure needs
• Develop data pipelines that enable analytics teams to build and refine KPI metric dashboards
• Build visualizations using tools like Tableau and Streamlit to communicate insights
• Build robust, flexible and automated software tools to complex fleet data analysis, enabling proactive monitoring of fleet behavior to improve field quality and customer experience
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in quantitative discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Data Analytics & Engineering), or equivalent experience with evidence of exceptional ability.
• 2+ years of work experience in data engineering related field
• Advanced SQL knowledge and hands-on experience working with relational databases, plus familiarity with various database engines
• Advanced knowledge of Python with Pandas
• Experience with quick web application development (e.g., Flask, Streamlit)
• Exposure to AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and LLMs for text mining/NLP tasks (via libraries like Hugging Face Transformers or LangChain)
• Working knowledge of big data tools (Spark/PySpark, Presto, Kafka)
• Experience with data visualization techniques (e.g., Tableau, Matplotlib)
• Experience developing predictive models on time-series data
• Strong collaboration skills, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders
