Data Engineer - ERP Modernization & Cloud Migration

Location: Chattanooga, TN
Schedule: 4 days onsite, Fridays remote
Type: Direct Hire/Permanent
Salary: Up to $130,000


About the Role

Transportation Enterprise Leasing (TEL) is seeking a Data Engineer to support a large-scale ERP modernization initiative. This role will focus on migrating critical business data from legacy systems into a modern cloud-based environment as the company transitions to a new ERP platform. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with data engineering, cloud technologies, data migration, and business-facing collaboration.

This individual will play a key role in ensuring data is accurately transformed, validated, and optimized for reporting and analytics while working closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts throughout the migration process.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Participate in project and migration status meetings with cross-functional teams
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines supporting ERP migration efforts
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL/ELT) data between legacy and cloud-based platforms
  • Validate migrated data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues throughout the migration lifecycle
  • Partner with business users and SMEs to verify business-critical data
  • Develop reporting-ready datasets for analytics and business intelligence consumption
  • Support reporting and analytics teams through data modeling and dataset optimization
  • Collaborate closely with modernization and ERP project teams to meet key implementation milestones


Required Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of Data Engineering experience
  • Advanced SQL development and data manipulation skills
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks
  • Experience working within Microsoft Azure cloud environments
  • Strong background in data migration, including data transformation, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation
  • Experience building and optimizing datasets for reporting and analytics
  • Ability to work directly with business stakeholders, SMEs, and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with Tableau reporting and analytics
