Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Data Engineer - Guidewire. This position is on-site once a month for 3-4 consecutive days near Woodbridge, NJ.
Summary:
The client is looking for a Data Engineer with experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry and the Guidewire ecosystem to design, develop, and support scalable data solutions for enterprise reporting, analytics, and emerging AI initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, Azure cloud technologies, modern data platforms, and Guidewire data structures, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable and reliable data solutions.
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL data pipelines supporting analytics and reporting initiatives
* Build and optimize data solutions utilizing Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake technologies
* Develop and maintain enterprise data models, data marts, and analytical datasets
* Integrate and transform data from Guidewire and other operational business systems
* Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to deliver data and reporting solutions
* Support reporting and dashboarding initiatives utilizing Power BI and related business intelligence tools
* Monitor and optimize data pipeline performance, reliability, and scalability
* Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis to resolve data quality and integration challenges
* Implement data governance, security, and compliance standards across data platforms
* Develop and maintain testing strategies to ensure data accuracy and reliability
* Support enterprise AI and advanced analytics initiatives through data preparation, metadata management, and scalable data architecture
* Mentor team members on data engineering best practices and insurance data concepts
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
* 5+ years of IT experience with at least 3 years focused on data engineering
* 2+ years of experience working with Guidewire data structures and insurance systems
* Experience working within the Property & Casualty insurance industry
* Strong knowledge of data modeling, data integration, and enterprise data architecture
Hands-on experience with:
* Azure Databricks
* Azure Data Factory
* Apache Spark
* Delta Lake
* Power BI
* SQL and relational databases
* Experience designing and supporting large-scale data pipelines and analytical data platforms
* Knowledge of Azure data services, including data storage, database, security, and integration services
* Experience working within Agile development environments and CI/CD practices
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting Guidewire PolicyCenter and BillingCenter data environments
* Familiarity with Guidewire canonical data models and insurance reporting datasets
* Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks
* Exposure to AI, machine learning, or Generative AI data initiatives
* Experience working with enterprise data lakehouse architectures
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
