Position Overview
The Engineer 1 will support Southern Company Gas's Design organization with engineering activities related to natural gas distribution infrastructure.
The position will assist with the planning and design of gas facilities, mechanical equipment, pipeline components, gas storage or fueling station assignments, system analysis, and construction activities.
This role requires an engineer who is a self-starter, strong communicator, critical thinker, collaborative team member, and sound decision-maker.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working across a matrix organization and collaborating with engineering, construction, operations, project management, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Planning
  • Assist with the planning and design of natural gas distribution infrastructure projects.
  • Develop engineering designs in accordance with applicable technical standards and project requirements.
  • Support the design of pipeline components and related infrastructure.
  • Participate in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Assist with developing technical solutions for gas distribution projects.
  • Review engineering information, drawings, specifications, and project documentation.

Preferred Certification
Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred but not required.
