Data Dimensions information

What are data dimensions?

Data dimensions are attributes or perspectives by which data can be categorized, organized, and analyzed. In the context of data management and analytics, dimensions such as time, geography, product, or customer allow users to slice and dice data for deeper insights. For example, a sales dataset might have dimensions like region and sales period, enabling users to analyze performance by different locations or times. Understanding data dimensions is essential for building effective reports, dashboards, and business intelligence solutions. They help transform raw data into meaningful information for decision-making.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, proficiency in statistics, and a background in mathematics or computer science. Familiarity with data analysis tools like SQL, Excel, Python, R, and data visualization platforms such as Tableau is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These skills are essential for extracting meaningful insights from data, supporting business decisions, and clearly conveying findings to stakeholders.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in data dimensions roles, and how can they overcome them?

Professionals in data dimensions roles often encounter challenges related to ensuring data quality, consistency, and proper integration across multiple data sources. Managing large volumes of data and maintaining accurate dimensional hierarchies can be complex, especially in organizations with rapidly evolving datasets. To overcome these challenges, it's important to establish clear data governance practices, collaborate closely with data engineers and business analysts, and leverage robust data management tools. Continuous learning and staying updated on best practices in data modeling and warehousing also contribute to long-term success in this field.

Job Description

This role operates and adjusts CNC mills and lathes to perform standard and repetitive machining operations, including drilling, reaming, tapping, milling, turning, and boring across a wide range of surfaces, diameters, and depths. Programs and setups are provided by others, and you focus on safe, accurate machine operation, basic adjustments, and quality inspection of finished parts in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and adjust CNC mills and CNC lathes (including Haas equipment) to perform drilling, reaming, tapping, milling, turning, boring, and other machining operations on various surfaces, diameters, and depths.
  • Run standard and repetitive machining sequences using proven programs and setups provided by others, ensuring consistent part quality and throughput.
  • Monitor machines during operation and make minor adjustments to maintain proper feeds, speeds, and part dimensions.
  • Inspect machined parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform routine quality checks on parts throughout the production run and document inspection results as required.
  • Enter and read input and output numbers on a computer to track production, record measurements, and follow work instructions.
  • Handle and move metal parts, lifting up to 5 pounds into and out of the machine in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in a loud, dirty manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including machines, tools, and gauges.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to communicate issues, suggest improvements, and support production goals.
  • Participate in training and cross-training opportunities to learn new machines, departments, and processes as part of the step program.
  • Adhere to attendance and scheduling requirements, including regular shift hours and occasional Friday and Saturday work every three weeks.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of machining experience operating equipment such as brake press, laser, punch press, turret press, CNC machines, or other production machinery in a manufacturing setting.
  • Minimum 6 months of machine operating experience specifically related to CNC or similar production machines.
  • At least 1 year of experience using micrometers and calipers to measure parts and perform quality inspections.
  • Ability to operate CNC mills and CNC lathes, including basic adjustments to machine settings.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
  • Ability to read and enter numerical data into a computer and interpret basic production and inspection information.
  • Comfort working in a loud, dirty, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle metal parts up to 5 pounds repeatedly.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality to meet production and shift requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Haas CNC machines or similar equipment.
  • Interest in growing into a Machinist role and potentially into lead or supervisory positions.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including up to 60 hours per week when approved in advance.
  • Comfort working night shifts and rotating Friday/Saturday schedules every three weeks.
  • Ability to learn new departments and processes through structured training and classes.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset to support team-based production.
  • Openness to ongoing performance reviews and feedback for continuous improvement.

Why Work Here?

You join a company that invests in your development, rewards strong performance, and offers clear pathways for advancement. A structured step program pays you to learn new departments and skills, with six progression steps that can span from six months to a couple of years of trainings and classes. There is significant room for growth into higher-level machinist roles with competitive pay, as well as opportunities to move into lead and supervisory positions. The organization supports work-life flexibility by allowing as much overtime as you want, up to 60 hours per week, with time-and-a-half after 40 hours and double time on Sundays, subject to advance approval. You benefit from strong health insurance, free vending machines for beverages, and employee perks on cellphones and vehicles. The culture emphasizes recognition and appreciation, with holiday meals, apparel and merchandise awards for meeting monthly production goals, and employee appreciation forms that enter helpful team members into gift card drawings. An attendance program provides monthly bonuses and an annual bonus for perfect attendance, along with additional vacation hours.
