Job Description
As a Controls Designer - BMS, you will support a growing team of Electrical and Control Systems Engineers by producing detailed Building Management System (BMS) design documents for Data Center projects. This role is focused on Revit-based production work, assisting with drawings, layouts, schedules, and documentation under the direction of licensed engineers and senior designers. Projects range from conceptual layouts to detailed construction documents for new facilities and retrofits. This position works closely with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to ensure BMS designs are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements.
Occasional travel to project sites may be required for data collection or coordination activities.
Primary responsibilities:
  • Produce BMS and controls drawings in Revit, including plans, details, diagrams, and schedules
  • Support the development of instrumentation and control system layouts for data center facilities
  • Assist with incorporating control sequences, points lists, and system requirements into drawings and documentation
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams to ensure accurate and clash-free designs
  • Revise drawings based on internal reviews, client comments, and construction feedback
  • Assist with preparation of construction documents and design deliverables
  • Review vendor submittals and apply approved information to drawings as directed
  • Participate in field visits as needed to verify existing conditions and support construction
  • Maintain drawing organization, file standards, and quality control procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
You are passionate about:
  • Producing high-quality technical drawings and documentation
  • Working collaboratively with engineers and multidisciplinary teams
  • Learning and growing within the controls and data center industry
  • Attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy
You bring to the team:
  • 2-5 years of experience supporting BMS or controls system design (or related building systems)
  • Revit proficiency is required (controls, electrical, or MEP experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), DDC, PLCs, or industrial controls
  • Ability to follow established design standards and workflows
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Clear communication skills and willingness to receive direction and feedback
  • Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large commercial/industrial projects is a plus
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field
