Responsibilities
Operations & Safety
  • Follow all safety, security, and compliance requirements including JHAs, and local regulations.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, escalate immediately, and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Participate in meetings, shift turnovers, and required training to maintain compliance and readiness.

Facility & Systems Maintenance
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain critical infrastructure including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems.
  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment, following defined methods of procedure (MOPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
  • Document work performed in the CMMS and ensure all tasks meet company and regulatory standards.

Troubleshooting & Incident Response
  • Respond quickly to abnormal equipment conditions and stabilize systems using established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot issues with facility and IT equipment, documenting findings and escalating when needed.
  • Support incident reporting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.

Customer & Vendor Support
  • Ensure all vendor and contractor activities are performed safely, within scope, and in compliance with facility standards.
  • Provide on-site support for customers, vendors, and contractors by offering technical assistance, troubleshooting, and facility access as needed.
  • Partner with internal operations teams to ensure smooth execution of projects and customer requirements.

Monitoring & Reporting
  • Conduct regular facility rounds to check alarms, equipment conditions, and overall site readiness.
  • Monitor systems via Building Management System (BMS) and other monitoring tools, responding to alerts appropriately.
  • Submit turnover notes, maintenance reports, and daily shift logs to ensure operational transparency.

Inventory & Logistics
  • Receive and ship equipment while keeping inventory and spare parts records accurate.
  • Track asset changes including moves, adds, and replacements in facility systems.
  • Ensure spare parts and tools are available to support scheduled and emergency maintenance.

Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the data center operations team and management to ensure smooth operation and minimal downtime.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., IT, Facilities, Operations) to ensure cross-functional communication and system integration.

Physical Job Requirements
You must be able to:
  • Work in various indoor and outdoor locations with exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Work in locations where you may not have immediate access to medical care.
  • Move your arms, legs and spine through full range of motion to permit work to be safely performed from ground/floor level to full overhead level. This involves squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting and reaching.
  • Exhibit good grip strength, finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination and normal balance.
  • See near and far and have normal depth perception, normal hearing, and be able to communicate clearly.
  • Tolerate high stress situations during mechanical failure or emergency operations.
  • Be aware of potential exposures to combustion exhaust, glycol, diesel fumes, carbon monoxide, and heavy metals.

Be capable of each of the following physical activities:
  • lift at least 30 lbs from floor to knuckle level
  • lift at least 30 lbs from floor to waist level
  • lift at least 20 lbs from floor to shoulder level
  • carry at least 30 lbs with two hands for a minimum distance of 50 feet
  • carry at least 20 lbs with one hand for a minimum distance of 50 feet
  • upward pull with a peak force of 50-lbs with two hands
  • push or pull horizontally with a peak force of 70+ lbs with two hands
  • stand /walk regularly with good balance
  • kneel, stoop, squat and twist on an occasional basis
  • climb1 flight of stairs, 20 steps per flight x 1 repetitions

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or military training preferred. A technical certification in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, Electrical Engineering, or similar) is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in data centers, IT support, facilities, or other technical environments.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and/or HVAC systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods of time.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and participate in on-call rotations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Data Center Infrastructure: Prior experience working in a data center environment or similar critical infrastructure setting.
  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware, cabling, or building systems is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and service manuals for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of Control Systems: Experience working with automated monitoring systems or BMS (Building Management Systems) is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex mechanical or electrical issues quickly under pressure.

Skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and CMMS tools for work order and asset tracking
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems is helpful.
  • Excellent teamwork, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and protocols (OSHA, NFPA).
