Summary:
The Data Center Technician II provides intermediate-level technical support for the Datacenter Operations Center (DOC) supporting the U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Information Management and Technology (OIMT). This position supports the continuous monitoring and operational management of the Albuquerque Data Center (ADC), a Tier III facility providing enterprise hosting services for mission-critical systems.
The technician performs infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support activities to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of enterprise systems and data center infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
  • Monitor and manage data center infrastructure systems including power distribution, cooling systems, environmental sensors, and network connectivity.
  • Analyze monitoring alerts and system notifications to identify and troubleshoot infrastructure issues.
  • Perform rack-and-stack installation, equipment configuration support, and structured cabling tasks following established data center standards.
  • Coordinate break/fix support and assist with hardware diagnostics and component replacement.
  • Maintain configuration management records and support asset management processes for all data center equipment.
  • Support physical security controls, access management procedures, and compliance with established data center policies.
  • Document incidents, operational activities, and maintenance procedures in operational tracking systems.
  • Assist with implementing infrastructure changes and supporting maintenance windows.
  • Coordinate with network, systems, and facilities teams to ensure proper operation of infrastructure systems.
  • Provide guidance to junior technicians and assist with operational training when needed.

Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with data center monitoring tools or IT infrastructure management systems
  • Experience working in enterprise IT or government environments
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar
