Job description

Brief Job Description:

This position will contribute to overall sales for Vertiv in the Greater Toronto and Southwest Ontario market. The Technical Sales Rep manages all sales activities at assigned consultants, contractors and with key end users such as in the data center, IT edge, and telecom space.  The sales representative works independently, is creative, and a critical thinker. The sale representative is required to solve customer problems with innovative solutions for their requirements by offering the most competitive, thorough product and pricing plan to meet the customer's needs, while exceeding sales quotas and business objectives.  This role requires travel within the territory to build relationships and visit sites to propose solutions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and expand relationships with assigned accounts for the promotion and sales of Vertiv products.
  • Interface with Vertiv Thermal, Power, Channel and Service Sales Reps, within the territory, to broaden Vertiv's overall relationship with assigned accounts to win more share of wallet and upselling full solutions on projects.
  • Generate sales in excess of quota for assigned accounts in a manner aligned with business objectives.
  • Contribute to sales excellence with healthy pipeline of opportunities and maintaining forecast data regularly.
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key accounts.
  • Ensure a high caliber customer response and satisfaction.  Communicate accurately and effectively with all customers and Vertiv sales associates, culminating in an integrated team sales effort.
  • Specific duties will include but not be limited to: prospecting for new accounts, preparing / configuring product solutions, preparing quotations, follow up, negotiations, closing deals, preparing submittals, order execution, general sales support through regular in-field customer visits.
  • Develop competency in all aspects of internal Vertiv sales and order entry functions and policies.
  • Establish competency across Vertiv products and services and their applications.

Required/ Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Degree in engineering or related diploma in technology.
  • Min. 5 years proven track record of growing sales.
  • Excels in understanding technical products and their applications.
  • High ability to develop and execute sales plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, experience to avoid mistakes and assumptions both technically and commercially.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Excellent presentation skills, effective communicator.
  • Excellent commercial experience to understand customer(s) and the Vertiv business environment.
  • Strong experience in business negotiations and relationship building activities with customers.
  • Planning, Organizational and Leadership Skills.
  • Ability to work proactively under own initiative, as well as in a team environment.
  • Be an aggressive competitor and keen achiever.
  • Ability to represent Vertiv successfully at meetings to senior management level.
  • Numerate and IT literate with an in-depth understanding of business performance.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to agreed timescales.
  • Self-starter, ability to plan, organize, and manage time effectively. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 

Travel:

  • Meeting face to face with local clients daily, frequent driving to client meetings.
  • Travel to US from time to time for training, customer visits, and meetings.
