Job description
The Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT) supports both clinical and research initiatives by performing advanced diagnostic imaging procedures and investigational radiopharmaceutical therapies. This role requires multimodality expertise, independent decision-making, technical excellence, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and/or PET/MRI.
The MIT will support innovative imaging environments, including the Advanced MRI Imaging Facility, Center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging, BrainSuite, and iMRI suites-while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and patient-centered care.
Shift / Hours: Monday - Friday / 9:30am - 5pm
Theranostic imaging requires specialized expertise, precise timing, advanced radiopharmaceutical handling, and detailed research documentation, all of which require highly trained MITs. Additional staffing is essential to support expanded same-day capacity, allowing multiple overlapping protocols to be performed efficiently, improving scheduling flexibility, and increasing patient and sponsor access. Extended imaging times and specialized monitoring requirements place further strain on current staff and cannot be consistently managed, creating risks to patient safety and workflow stability. Current staffing levels are insufficient to meet the increasing demands, so these two positions are critical to supporting new study activation, meeting sponsor expectations, and maintaining the institution's competitive position in theranostic research.
In addition, the MIT will directly increase capacity for new and overlapping research protocols, strengthen compliance and data integrity, reduce overtime and staff burnout, enhance patient experience and throughput, and strengthen operational stability across all imaging locations. The supervisor will oversee daily operations, manage schedules, assign tasks, support training and onboarding, maintain research documentation, coordinate SIVs and required meetings, ensure appropriate staffing, troubleshoot issues, and maintain clear communication and efficient workflows. Without these positions, the program faces operational risk, reduced throughput, and potential delays in research execution. Investing in this position is critical to sustain program growth, research performance, and excellence in patient care
