Join the Woodbury School of Business as a Professional in Residence in Data Analytics and help prepare the next generation of business professionals for success in a rapidly evolving, data-driven economy! Summary of Responsibilities
  • Designs, prepares, and delivers undergraduate and graduate courses in Data Analytics using engaging, applied instructional methods across face-to-face, hybrid, livestream, and online modalities. Integrates data visualization, statistical analysis, AI-enabled analytics tools, and modern business intelligence platforms into instruction. Evaluates student learning using appropriate assessments and provides timely, constructive feedback while fostering an inclusive, student centered learning environment.
  • Serves as a liaison between the WSB and industry partners to ensure curriculum reflects current workforce expectations. Develops employer-sponsored projects, guest lectures, case competitions, internships, and experiential learning opportunities. Maintains active engagement in the analytics profession through consulting, professional organizations, certifications, conferences, or other continuing professional development activities. Promotes industry partnerships that enhance student success and program visibility.
  • Develops measurable learning outcomes, instructional materials, cases, labs, and experiential learning projects that reflect current industry practices. Continuously improves curriculum to align with evolving technologies and employer needs. Maintains regular office hours and advises and mentors students in academic progress, professional development, internships, industry certifications, and career readiness, supporting student success from the classroom to the workforce.
  • Participates in departmental, school, and university committees and initiatives. Contributes to curriculum assessment, continuous improvement, accreditation activities, program development, recruitment, and student engagement efforts. Collaborates with faculty to assess learning outcomes and improve instructional effectiveness. Performs other related duties as assigned. Designs and administers assessments aligned to course outcomes using clear criteria/rubrics; provides timely feedback. Holds regular office hours. Advises and mentors students on career paths, skill development, professional preparation, and job-search strategies.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a closely related field; or a master's degree in a related business discipline combined with substantial professional experience in data analytics.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data science, analytics consulting, decision support, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contemporary analytics tools and technologies commonly used in industry.
  • Evidence of maintaining professional currency through industry practice, consulting, professional certifications, continuing education, or leadership in the analytics profession.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analytics with experience applying analytical methods to support business decision-making, organizational effectiveness, and emerging technologies. Familiarity with business strategy, artificial intelligence, operations, or supply chain contexts is desirable, along with a commitment to industry engagement and student success.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in higher education or delivering professional training.
  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Certified Professional, AWS Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer, Databricks, SAS, Snowflake, or similar industry-recognized credentials.
  • Experience developing employer-sponsored projects, internships, or experiential learning opportunities.
  • Strong connections with Utah or regional employers in analytics, technology, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated leadership in applied analytics projects, consulting, or professional organizations.
  • Evidence of thought leadership through conference presentations, industry publications, white papers, or invited professional presentations.
