Role: Grafana & ClickHouse Analytics Engineer

Job Description
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills:
Grafana dashboards, panels, visualizations and alerting
Click House architecture, schema design and data modeling
Click House SQL, SQL Server to ClickHouse migration and syntax differences
Query optimization, performance tuning and large-scale analytics
Near real-time analytics, observability practices and collaboration/documentation
 
Roles & Responsibilities
• 5 to 8 years of experience in BI/reporting, analytics engineering, observability, or data platform 
implementation.
• Hands-on experience building Grafana dashboards using variables, templating, transformations, 
drilldowns, annotations, alert rules, notification channels/contact points, and dashboard-as-code 
practices where applicable.
• Strong understanding of Click House architecture including Merge Tree engines, partitions, primary/sort
 keys, materialized views, projections, compression, distributed tables, and replication/sharding concepts.
• Experience converting SQL Server / T-SQL based analytics, stored logic, or SSRS report datasets into 
Click House-compatible SQL and optimized analytical query patterns.
• Ability to analyze existing SSRS reports, identify metrics/KPIs, map datasets, validate business logic, 
and recreate equivalent or improved visualizations in Grafana.
• Strong SQL skills with focus on aggregation, window functions, joins, time-series queries, query profiling, 
explain plans, and performance tuning for high-volume analytical workloads.
• Working knowledge of near real-time analytics pipelines, ingestion patterns, data freshness, alert thresholds, 
SLA/SLO monitoring, and dashboard performance best practices.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams, communicate migration risks, document assumptions, and
 support UAT/business validation.
 
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing SSRS reports and SQL Server analytics assets, document report inventory, datasets, 
dependencies, calculations, filters, and migration complexity.
- Design and develop Grafana dashboards that replicate or enhance existing SSRS reporting capabilities
 using reliable visualizations, variables, and user-friendly navigation.
- Create and optimize ClickHouse SQL queries for large-scale analytics with appropriate data modeling, 
partitioning, sorting keys, materialized views, and query tuning techniques.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to define ingestion, transformation, and data validation 
requirements for ClickHouse as the target analytics platform.
- Implement Grafana alerting for key operational/business metrics, including severity levels, thresholds, 
routing, and notification configuration.
- Validate report outputs against legacy SSRS/SQL Server results, reconcile discrepancies, and document 
any changes in metric definitions or business rules.
- Establish dashboard performance standards, reusable patterns, naming conventions, access controls, and 
monitoring best practices.
- Prepare technical documentation, migration runbooks, KT materials, and support handover to 
operations/business users.
