The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has 1exciting student opportunity from September 30, 2026 to December 31, 2026 within the Technology branch at CATSA Headquarters.

Student, Business Operations and Process Improvement

Number of Positions: 1

Term: September 30, 2026 to December 31, 2026

Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Ottawa, HQ (Hybrid)
Salary range: $18.15 to $30.20/hourly rate dependent on level of education

Language requirement: English Essential

*Eligibility List: CATSA will use this opportunity to establish a list of candidates eligible to fill subsequent vacancies. The eligibility list may be used to staff other student positions with similar responsibilities and qualifications.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Support invoice processing activities, including validation, tracking, and maintaining supporting records;

  • Assist with financial and contract administration activities, reporting, and documentation to support operational requirements;

  • Analyze business processes, identify inefficiencies, and support process improvement and optimization initiatives;

  • Compile, maintain, and analyze operational and financial data using Microsoft Excel and other business tools;

  • Assist with special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.

What you need to succeed:
To qualify for the position, you must have:

  • Enrolled in a college diploma or a university degree in business administration, engineering or a program relevant to the duties of the position; and

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or similar technologies;

  • Knowledge of data analytics, reporting, or business intelligence tools such as Power BI;

  • Exposure to business process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, process mapping, workflow analysis, or continuous improvement practices.

  • Exposure to programming or scripting languages such as Python, VBA, SQL, or similar;

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills (both orally and in writing);

  • Professional approach to work;

  • High attention to detail; and

  • Ability to think strategically and provide solutions to problems;

  • Ability to work well in teams, independently and under pressure.

  • Ability to analyze data and identify opportunities for process improvements;

  • Ability to leverage technology, AI, automation, and digital tools to improve business outcomes;

To qualify and to be considered for this employment, you must:

  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain a reliability security clearance;

  • Be a full-time or part-time CEGEP, College or University student; and

  • Be returning to full-time or part-time studies in the next academic year.
