Job Description:
SimIS, Inc. seeks an innovative IT Data Visualization & Strategic Analytics Specialist to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Information and Technology (OIT) in delivering IT support, data collection, analysis, reporting, and strategic data visualization services. This role directly supports CBP/DHS operational reporting needs, the CBP Trusted Partner Program, and maintenance of a Strategic Traceability Hub for IT project and dashboard tracking. The candidate will translate raw operational data into clear visual narratives that drive leadership decision-making and enhance transparency across CBP's mission space.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide IT support services including data collection, data quality validation, analysis, and recurring/ad hoc reporting for CBP/DHS stakeholders
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards using Tableau and Microsoft Power BI to display operational metrics and statistics for CBP leadership and mission stakeholders
  • Support population and maintenance of the CBP Public Data Portal, ensuring published metrics are accurate, current, and appropriately formatted for public consumption
  • Design and develop strategic data management frameworks and visualization tools aligned with CBP OIT's mission and reporting priorities
  • Establish data governance practices supporting consistent, repeatable reporting across dashboard products
  • Support development, formatting, and dissemination of IT policy documents across CBP IT platforms
  • Support the CBP Trusted Partner Program by communicating metrics, status, and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide direct customer support to CBP stakeholders through dashboards and troubleshooting of reporting tools
  • Maintain a Strategic Traceability Hub to track IT projects, dashboard enhancements, and related deliverables from initiation through completion
Experience Required:
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in IT support, data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Direct or indirect experience supporting DHS and/or CBP/DHS operations, or demonstrated working knowledge of CBP/DHS roles and missions
  • Demonstrated experience with Tableau and Microsoft Power BI for operational dashboard development
  • Familiarity with, or experience supporting, the CBP Public Data Portal or comparable public-facing data platforms
  • Experience supporting development and dissemination of IT policy documentation
Special Skills/Knowledge/Training Required:
  • Proficiency in data visualization tool development (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong data analysis and data management skills, including the ability to design strategic visualization frameworks
  • Ability to structure and maintain project tracking systems (e.g., a traceability hub) for IT initiatives
  • Strong written communication skills to support policy documentation and dissemination
  • Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience directly supporting CBP OIT or a CBP mission office
  • Familiarity with the CBP Trusted Partner Program or comparable government-industry-international collaboration frameworks
  • Experience establishing or maintaining a project traceability/tracking system across multiple concurrent IT initiatives
  • Certification in Tableau or Power BI (e.g., Tableau Desktop Specialist, Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate)
