Job description

Position Type:  Behavior Specialist

Location:  Special Education Learning Facility (SELF)

Start Date: As Available 

Qualifications:

  • Valid Teaching License, Administrator's License, Social Work License, Counseling License, or Comparable Certification
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Certification
  • Masters Degree Preferred
  • At Least 3 Years of Experience in Education and/or the Behavioral Intervention Field
  • Experience with Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Experience in Staff Training and Development

Reports to:  SELF School Principal

Job Goal:  to utilize leadership and behavioral intervention skills to promote an exceptional learning experience and high achievement for all students

Performance Responsibilities:

Behavior Analysis and Intervention

  1.  Support students with special needs in reaching their behavioral goals for future life success.
  2. Instruct and support students in positive behavior practices in order to meet their personal and academic goals.
  3. Support school-level teams with academic and behavioral interventions to promote student growth and achievement.
  4. Engage in real-time support and coaching for staff in evidence based, high leverage educational and behavioral practices.
  5. Provide immediate and ongoing support to the school crisis-response team.
  6. Conduct informal and formal Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) for students, as needed.
  7. Utilize FBAs to develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students.
  8. Progress monitor students' BIPs to assess their effectiveness and adjust as needed.
  9. Assist and coach staff on writing and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with specific emphasis on behavior intervention.

Training

  1.  Develop and provide classroom, school-wide, and county training and modeling related to successful academic, social/emotional, and behavioral interventions.
  2. Promote and establish community outreach and parent support systems related to behavioral interventions and school collaboration.
  3. Maintain training practices and philosophies in line with school safety, crisis prevention, behavioral programming, and inclusive practices.
  4. Coordinate with other behaviorists and supervise RBTs in their training and practice.

Data Analysis and Intervention

  1.  Provide case conference support to meeting participants.
  2. Organize data collection and tracking related to student behavior and achievement.
  3. Develop and implement streamlined processes for staff related to data collection and tracking of student behavior and achievement.

Other

  1. Documentation related to Medicaid billing as applicable.
  2. Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:  185 Days

Contract Amount: $52,500 starting salary with consideration of credentials and experience, benefits eligible
