Role Overview

Reporting to the ERP Data Lead, the Technical Business Analyst - ERP Data Migration will play a meaningful role in data readiness and data migration activities during the ERP implementation program. This position focuses on supporting cross-functional teams throughout the data extraction, transformation, migration, and validation process, ensuring that data from legacy systems is accurately transitioned to our new ERP platform.

The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background in data management and migration tools, hands-on experience with ERP systems, and a collaborative approach to leading partners and ensuring data integrity throughout the ERP migration journey.

The Technical Business Analyst will be responsible for working closely with data stewards, product owners, business partners, and technical teams to ensure that data migration activities are accurately planned, implemented, and monitored. The goal is to ensure that data is accurately and fully migrated, with a key focus on data profiling, mapping, cleansing, and validation throughout the migration process.

This is a contract position with a minimum term of one year, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Adhere to and promote safety and environmental rules and procedures throughout the data migration process to ensure that all activities align with safety standards
  • Actively support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities from legacy ERP systems to the data readiness tool
  • Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure smooth data migration across all business domains
  • Provide hands-on support in the Syniti migration tool, including configuration, data load execution, and validation
  • Collaborate with key partners to assess current data readiness levels, ensuring that all data required for migration is clean, accurate, and complete
  • Work with data stewards to prepare data for migration, ensuring that any gaps or issues are identified and resolved in advance
  • Ensure that all data processes are carefully gathered and validated as part of the migration strategy
  • Work alongside data stewards to identify, cleanse, and correct any discrepancies or data quality issues in the existing systems prior to migration
  • Participate in the profiling of existing data to identify data quality issues or gaps. Work with technical teams to develop and implement the transformation processes to ensure that the data aligns with the new system's requirements
  • Collaborate with data developers, technical teams, and third-party software providers to ensure that the data migration process runs smoothly and that data integrity is maintained
  • Ensure all partners are aligned on migration schedules, timelines, and dependencies
  • Support and coordinate the advancement of data readiness and migration activities, tracking key achievements to ensure all business areas are progressing within the broader ERP implementation timeline
  • Support UAT activities by ensuring the migrated data is tested against business requirements
  • Facilitate UAT sessions to ensure that the data meets business expectations and address any data-related issues raised by end-users during testing
  • Support the development/ delivery of training materials, user guides, and system documentation related to data migration changes
  • Ensure end-users are adequately educated on new data processes to facilitate the smooth adoption of the new ERP system
  • Assist with handling change associated with data migration, ensuring compliance with corporate change management and release management processes
  • Ensure that all data migration activities are well-documented, tested, and communicated to relevant partners

Qualifications

  • Applied University Degree with emphasis on information systems, computer science, business systems, or a related technical discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in a similar role, specifically focused on data readiness and data migration within ERP systems, including hands-on experience supporting data migration across multiple business domains.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly understand and resolve data-related issues
  • Ability to handle large volumes of data and ensure high-quality data throughout the migration process
  • Ability to work optimally in a team environment, managing multiple tasks related to data readiness and migration, and adhering to tight deadlines in a fast paced ERP implementation context
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and business processes, particularly in industries such as mining, manufacturing, or any industry requiring complex data migrations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and SharePoint (O365 preferred)
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Hands-on experience with Syniti ADMM or other ETL tools is highly desirable
  • Experience with change management processes and methodologies, specifically in the context of ERP implementations and data migration
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset
