Job description

Description
The Data Analyst is responsible for developing customer and financial analytical solutions. This position uses data analytics to uncover trends that drive decision making that improves profitability and performance of our stores, products, and services. This position requires an agile software development mindset and the ability to deliver end-to-end full-stack solutions, including ideation/brainstorming, data/feature engineering and cleaning, data wrangling, coding, testing, deploying, data visualization, and maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Complete (ad hoc) Analytical requests that provide data driven business insights and recommendations. Reporting, including development of interactive dashboards. Complete project from end-to-end
  • Mining vast amounts of data to build analytical datasets using programming skills in SQL, R, or Python
  • Developing interactive dashboards to inform leadership and enable data-driven decisions using Power BI, and/or Tableau
  • Developing descriptive analytical tools/models to answer the questions "why are Sales what they are? Why are customer behaviors changing? Where are customers coming from or going to? What is the underlying cause of good or bad performance?", using various business intelligence tools, including Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, and other tools for advanced data analysis and visualization
  • Responsible for the development, execution, deployment of analytical solutions into production, and improvement of team data asset production processes, weekly reporting, QC/data validation, gathering info from SMEs.
  • Participating as the primary analytical support for data driven cross-functional strategic initiatives.

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month's extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Marketing, Business, or another analytical discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience (if applicable)
  • 1-year in an analytical role specializing in data manipulation, interpretation, report writing, and data insight summarization/reporting.
  • 1-year analytical experience:
    • Writing SQL; OR
    • Conducting Financial performance analysis; OR writing R code or similar functionality within other statistical tools
    • For recent College Graduates, these requirements can be satisfied by relevant coursework.
  • Strong knowledge of Data analysis techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of mathematics and statistics.
  • Accounting and/or Finance knowledge (basic knowledge of accounting principles)
  • Data visualization and Story telling
  • Knowledge of SQL based applications

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master's degree in Analytics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Marketing, Business.
  • Meet minimum requirements and have 3+ years of analytics work related experience.
  • Have knowledge of Tableau or Power BI
