Job description

Be Part Of A High-Performing Team

Join a global manufacturing organization investing heavily in enterprise analytics, modern data architecture, and scalable self-service business intelligence. The data and analytics organization supports business teams across a complex international environment and is expanding the foundation that connects enterprise data, semantic models, and Power BI reporting.

This opportunity is designed for an experienced BI professional who combines deep technical expertise with the communication skills to partner directly with business users. The role will help shape enterprise data models, improve existing BI architecture, establish stronger development standards, and enable business teams to consume trusted, reusable analytics without placing unnecessary strain on the enterprise BI platform.

What's In Store For You

  • Direct-hire opportunity with a global organization investing in modern enterprise analytics.
  • Charlotte-based onsite role, offering close collaboration with the existing BI and technology teams.
  • Opportunity to influence enterprise BI architecture, governance, semantic-modeling practices, and self-service analytics.
  • High visibility across business stakeholders, Data Engineering, leadership, and distributed Power BI users.
  • Opportunity to help mature an analytics environment built around technologies including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, dbt, and enterprise data warehousing.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Design and enhance scalable enterprise semantic models that provide trusted, reusable datasets for business reporting and self-service analytics.
  • Review existing Power BI and dbt-based data-modeling solutions and recommend architectural improvements where needed.
  • Develop and optimize sophisticated Power BI models using advanced DAX, dimensional modeling, and performance-tuning techniques.
  • Investigate poorly performing Power BI reports and models, identify DAX or modeling bottlenecks, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Help reduce unnecessary BI platform consumption by moving decentralized reporting teams toward governed enterprise semantic models.
  • Partner with Data Engineering teams responsible for moving and transforming enterprise data into the data warehouse.
  • Translate business questions and loosely defined requirements into structured data models and scalable analytics solutions.
  • Facilitate conversations with business stakeholders using thoughtful discovery and open-ended questioning to uncover the actual business need.
  • Establish and reinforce BI governance, development standards, data-modeling practices, documentation, and reusable frameworks.
  • Support enterprise analytics across areas such as sales, inventory, orders, finance, manufacturing, and operational performance.
  • Balance multiple strategic initiatives in a fast-changing environment where business priorities may shift frequently.
  • Provide senior technical guidance and help elevate the architectural maturity of the broader BI environment.

Do You Have the Expertise to Lead in Enterprise BI Architecture and Semantic Modeling?

  • Approximately 8–10+ years of senior-level BI, data modeling, data architecture, or enterprise analytics experience.
  • Deep hands-on experience designing enterprise semantic models and dimensional data models.
  • Advanced hands-on expertise with Microsoft Power BI and DAX.
  • Ability to diagnose and optimize complex Power BI solutions, including poorly performing DAX and inefficient model designs.
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of enterprise data warehousing.
  • Experience working with dbt and modern data-transformation/modeling practices.
  • Experience working with cloud-based analytics ecosystems such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of BI governance, development standards, naming conventions, documentation, and reusable enterprise models.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess an existing architecture critically and recommend practical improvements.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Data Engineering teams while retaining ownership of the semantic/reporting layer.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and requirements-discovery skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and tactfully to non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable operating within ambiguity, changing priorities, and competing executive-level requests.
  • Demonstrated long-term ownership of BI solutions, including experience improving, correcting, or evolving solutions after deployment.
  • Manufacturing, supply chain, inventory, order-management, or similar operational analytics experience is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant technical or analytical discipline preferred.
